I've started listening to the Return To Forever albums. So far everything is magnificent, but I still enjoy "Light As A Feather" like a superb, unreal in beauty, album. It's masterliness. Cool

10 stars out of 5!!!!

If you enjoy RTF then you should try to find a copy of "Return to the 7th Galaxy" which is I believe their 25th anniversary anthology cd.  On it you'll find 4 previously unreleased "live" versions of some of their music.  Three of the live cuts feature original guitarist Bill Connors.

well I reached Light As A Feather in my RTF experience, but I don't think I have anything besides the classic albums.

Chick Corea's "return to Forever" is one of my all time favorites, superb ECM album, as expected. If you haven't heard it, get it.

Me, I'm just finishing Release Music Orchestra's "get the Ball," well worth investigating, I'll probably be adding them to the site soon.

It's great, not as jazz-rocky as Flora Purim's Open Your Eyes, You Can Fly but it doesn't mean it's not excellent afro-brazilian avant jazz with some rocky moments

i listened to "Music Magic" the other day. i must say, it is the most underrated RTF album. i can understand why some fans dont like it. either too jazzy, not enough prog elements, or was released after an album like Romantic Warrior. either way i find it a great album when out of the context it came out. most underrated!

So I love Mahavishnu Orchestra but after listening to Bitches Brew after a recommendation by a friend, I was thoroughly underwhelmed. Far too much noodling and general Jazz w**kery for my taste.

Call me a Philistine if you will, but can anyone recommend some Jazz fusion with a more structured feel to it? (a la Birds of Fire/Meeting of the Spirits).

First of all, I'd reccomend you to try it some more. Atleast some of my favorite groups and albums has taken some time to really get into. Maybe you should check out the stunning In A Silent Way first? Practically the same line up.

Herbie Hancock's Crossings or Sextant are two masterpieces I warmly reccomend too.

But don't believe in me
Don't believe in me
