Aha! So Snowie plays Tintin's dog? I knew it! 
I used to watch that show when I was a kid and really liked it. That's long time ago though and I haven't seen any other episodes yet.

That would be because Tintin's author (yep they were comic books in the first place) died a long time ago, and no one continued his work...

And I heard Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson have just announced that they're making a series of three Tintin movies, directing one each (the third director has yet to be announced). I so wish they didn't. Two of the worst directors I know.

Did I read this right ? 
Spielberg I can understand, but Jackson ?
Can you elaborate as to why you think so ?

Jackson isn't very good. His claim to fame is three goofy movies that featured some pretty terrible acting and then he followed up his trilogy with one of the most ridiculous , unneccessary and worst remakes. Anyways, the Tin Tin comics were great. I lived by those things. The cartoon was good too but I only got to see a few of the episodes.

We didn't have the TV show in the States, but I ate and drank the books.. Herge is a phenomenal artist and storyteller, my favorites were The Land of Black Gold, Destination Moon/Exploreres on the Moon, and the Calculus Affair.

To end that trinity would be George Lucas maybe.  
The Tintin comics is, along with Dragonball, the most sold ever in the world, and that is understandable for sure. Some years ago we got a brand new translation to swedish more faithful to Hergés original.

Tintin is serious business in Belgium, and the administrators are keeping a close watch on the Hergé (as in RG >> Remi Georges) estates.
There have been many film project of Tintin's adventures over the years (actually there exist two real movies made from original Hergé stories >>> Tintin and the Golden Fleece and Tintin and the Blue Oranges, made by the French movie industry in the 60's)
But the Hollywood offers were never accepted because too much adaptation and fear of lack of respect to the oeuvre was always stronger for the Moulinsart Foundation to grant the go-ahead!! I believe that they do have confidence in Spielberg's respecting the contract of common trust.

I used to watch that show all the time. I have a big cowlick that kind of looks like Tintin's.

I'll have to pick up the English versions, just to see how they translated Haddock's insults and swearings. In French you had to look them up in the dictionary. This should be a treat.
