^ Hey Abel. I hope you like the Bronx. I used to teach high school there, but it got too rough for me, so now I switched careers.I'm definitely up for meeting at the show. My name is Matt. Only problem with meeting up is I don't know what anyone going looks like, except avestin because he has a pic on his profile. I know some are hesitant to post pics, but personally I don't care, so you all can find pics of me at www.myspace.com/wettan. If you're not a member of that site, you'll at least be able to see one pic. I'll try to get to the concert at around 5:00 as you suggested, but I may not be able to make it until door-opening time. We should still grab a beer afterwards, or if the younger guys want to join in, maybe just go get something to eat. I'm always interested in meeting prog-fans ... none of my friends like prog!!!!By the way, Daniel, thanks for posting that link. I'd check out the stores, but I've made a solemn oath to not buy much music right now, as I'm a poor college student and I really need to save as much money as I can.

Hey I do.! My neighborhood is pretty quiet specially my block and my building(Thanks God!). I am happy in the Bronx and the rent rasonable. You know that the city and boroughs had got so much better and safer I lived in all of them ( manhattan,Queen, Brooklyn) but I prefer the Bronx.
Ok cool.!! I also like to meet prog fans because of the same reason as you my friends and family ( with the exception of my dear uncle who got me into prog and jazz, but He doesn't live in NYlol ) do not like prog at all. most the time I am by myself at concert .
Well Josh and I live in the same town in Westchester and are in high school, so no bar for us. However, I'm at the Bronx today because that's where my dad lives. It's also a comparatively quiet neighborhood, but I'm not here too often. I don't have a pic on hand, but I'll probably wear something distinguishable... I guess. I'll be with a group from my school (shocking that we have like 5 or 6 PT fans Clap) but I'll still meet up.
Anyway, as far as the stores go, I'm definately saving up. Think about it this way, with the used sections, you're saving money Wink

Whooooooooooo!!!!!!

I'm psyched for tomorrow.

I'll try to catch you guys at the box office at 5:00pm, and also around that time I think I'm going to head to the nearby Virgin Megastore (on Broadway right above 45th St.). Relatively good selection of CD's, though generally expensive, so I'll be mostly browsing instead of buying.

Actually, I've found their sales to be generally good, but that's only the sales. It's generally reasonable.
Anyway, I'm not sure if I can get there at five. My group might be in other places.

We'll probably be there as well at 17:00

I'll take the advice i got here and go "treasure hunting" in those cd stores written in the previous page.

Does anyone know what the length of the whole show is (including the warm up act)?

This is just my guess, based on the general format for similar shows I have seen in the city:

Doors will open at 7, as the ticket says. The opening band, "3", will start at 7:30 and be done at 8:30. PT will set up, begin playing at 8:45, play a two-hour (?) set, and so the whole thing will finish up at 11:00pm, give or take 15 minutes.

The only real difference could be if PT has been putting on longer shows than I suggest here, if you need to know for sure you can ask other forum members who have already been to PT shows on this tour.

EDIT: By the way, I've checked out the band 3 on their myspace(www.myspace.com/3), and they actually sound pretty good, which is rare for mostly-unknown opening acts. They remind me of a cross between The Mars Volta and Coheed & Cambria, which is good because I like both of those bands.

That's VERY wishful thinking. I remember last time the doors opened at 7 and we just sat there for over an hour waiting for ProjeKct 6. I believe they did a 45 min set and a 20 min intermission and the PT played for about 2 hours. I think we got out just before midnight...perhaps earlier.

Ok, thanks guys.
I'm asking because we have two trains back to LI and one is at 23:40 and the other at 1:46, so I guess the second one is in order.

Yeah there was no way that I'd be getting to there at 5. We missed the train. Twice.
Anyways, that was an amazing show. Kinda dissapointing that they just played the album in sequence in first. It would have sounded better integrated. 3 were great, too, but their album is nowhere near as good as their live show. Does anyone know which song they played before Sever?
Anyways, I believe that I was the only one there with a yellow shirt (although it was usually under my green hoodie) so you might have seen me at some point, So then... yeah...great show.

I met up with Assaf and Abel (avestin & darksideof) and we hung out, and had some Burger King before the show. Fun times! And yeah, the playing the album straight through was a little weird, but I actually liked it, it was a nice change from the way bands usually do things.

I'll type up a set list tomorrow for those who didn't go but are interested, but there was one song I didn't know, probably the one before Sever but I can't remember where it fell in the order.

EDIT: Better type this before I forget it:
Set list (PT, Nokia Theater, May 19th):

Entire Fear of a Blank Planet album in sequence
Lightbulb Son
Open Car
Gravity Eyelids
Drown With Me (In Absentia outtake)
**unknown mellow song**
Sever
Blackest Eyes
Trains
Encore: Improvised Jam (?) and Halo

I think that "improvised jam" was "Mother and Child Divide", a non-album Deadwing trackTongue

LOL Thanks for the correction. I'm not all that familiar with any of their rarities stuff, but still I should have known that, because that song is on the recent DVD, which I own! Embarrassed

did anyone else notice (I think Dan did) at the end of "Halo" when Steve sang "I forgot the words, you better f**kin' believe it" right before the last chorus? LOL I don't know if that's verbatim what he said but it was along those lines

Unexpected bit of fun that almost makes up for them not playing Even Less
