^ That one I gues it should be already deleted; there are some strict rules about text formating.
Now, I have to bring this to the attention of the community: http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=121137
Ben-Rushismylife is now in full-prog mode! "... what is now a permanent member of my top 5 favourite bands list, Rush" !!! Incredible! Next thing we know he'll be talking about "Rush, the band that brought him into prog, when young" - but do we want that?

i don't see how he's arrogant. He simply fails to say anything of use and his grammar's pretty band (has he heard of conjunctions?). I don't expect a track by track review from everyone (God that would be awful), but he basicaly just said wait till you hear this. Why bother?

Even if you hate track-by-track reviews (then you'd dislike mine), when we're talking about not-yet-released album, we should at least see something in the text that refers to specific parts in the album so that we can guess (only GUESS) that the reviewer has actually HEARD the album... I could write that same review and I haven't heard the album! (nor do i plan to do it until june 5)... Lighthouse is a good forum member but this review should be under observation, as the other ones, even though they're 5-star ones....

Tony, I see what you mean, I read his other reviews. His Neal Morse review is hilarious. "The songs are excellent." No s**t, you gave it five stars, I should hope you liked it.

Couldn't agree more... But that's a Lost Cause...even more so than The Lost Chord......No, really, I think the owners of the site want it that way, and if they do, we'll have to deal with it, let our livers take the pain, and eventually, suing them when our stress has forced us into the hospital....... No, I've said it like 10000 times, but I understand why it can't be done, even though it would help a lot.... Just like that Synphony X review... where the hell did that come from? The album is more than a MONTH away! Promo copy? How can be sure if the review is so full of...nothing?

IMHO this should be deleted - one gets a promo copy because
a) you're a DJ
b) you are a reviewer
this guy is obviously neither.

Is that the standard we want for first review?
I think not.
I could have written a better review of the album than that and I havent listened to any Symphony X in the last 12 months!

Rush n00b indeed... everything made by Rush is 5 stars to him. Surprisingly, he reviewed three more albums and knew, upon then, how to...say something...different. Edited by Ricochet - May 12 2007 at 10:13 |

Re : the four reviews submitted by Snakeplisken on May 12/2007 for Rush - Counterpoints, Hold Your Fire, Power Windows, & Test For Echo.
I have no problem with the star rating of the gist of the reviews. Except for one thing - Each review is composed of the same words, with the ONLY difference being a change in the album(s) named. See below : "Superb songwriting throughout make XXXX one of Rush's best records. Standout tracks include every tune of the record. This is not an album; however, for Rush/prog purists. Prog masterpieces are nowhere to found on this recording. Tight little hard rock/prog twist songs make up the matter of this album and it is only with repeated listening that the true brilliance of what they are going is finally achieved in the intricacies of the intenste musicianship and sound that goes into making this one of the most underrated recordings in the Rush pantheon. XXXX is an excellent album release by a band that continues to shatter general expectations from a bunch of "fans" who want them to record XXXX and XXXX over and over until they croak." I won't comment on the apparent lack of originality displayed by the reviewer (that seems self-evident), but I find it makes a mockery of the effort most people put into a review. I don't need a track by track breakdown, but for god's sake, this is simply not acceptable. It smacks of Ratings pumping of the worst sort. I would request that all four be deleted & the writer advised to pay attention to what he writes. |

As a rule, reviews are assessed in isolation, the acid test being do they stand up on their own as a review of the chosen album. While I acknowledge the lazy style of the reviewing they are OK on that basis. They are not the best reviews on the site, but there a lot worse too. I'll contact the reviewer requesting that they review each album individually, but I don't see any grounds for deletion as they stand.

But 3 are IDENTICAL apart from substituting the album name...so the later two should go....
and the Hemispheres review, is that acceptable? Is this the standard we want to accept?
Neil Peart is a much, much better writer. The truth is Hemispheres is a musically outstanding and extremely ambitious endeavor that was created entirely on purpose. Geddy's bass lines are exquisite, Alex' guitar is never matched again on any Rush album, and Neil's drumming, well, it's Neil's drumming. Enough said. Anybody can see this is at least a four star release. I happen to think it's a five.

Come on, Bob. We can't just have the same reviews repeated for 3+ albums, even if the reviews aren't necessarily worthy of being deleted in their own right. One would be OK, but as it is, it's disrespectful to the integrity of the site, I think.
