Wow. A lot of ProgArchives members are going to be at that Nokia show. Just off the top of my head, I remember from another thread that avestin, moreitsythanyou, heyitsthatguy, and fight club were all going. And me. That makes at least 7 of us, and probably there's more.

sound like a good idea.!
How about of us meeting up with a sign saying.

"Progressive Archive"

I think it is a cool idea of all the PA members that are going to that show to meet up in person and hang out.Wink
what do you guys thinks?
 I am in.

Well, I'm not going to that one.
I'm hoping to go to the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto to see them the 28th. (But I'm probably the only one here going to that show...)

I say we all paint our faces half purple, half orange, as seem to be the official ProgArchives colors.

On second thought, we'd all get laughed at, so maybe not.

But seriously, we should all meet up after and go drinki- ... err, darn, some of you are a bit less-than-21. Oh well.

What I was planning on doing that day was browsing around the various stores further downtown. The shops near Bleeker Street are amazing.

Well, us more adults can go have a beer, And it would be nice to have a PA get together...
My wife and I are going together. We both look underage... And I am always told that when I reach 40 I'll be thankful for it. Right now at almost 30 it mainly pisses me off... .

About those "shops near Bleeker Street", which ones would those be? And where is it? (I am not from NY/NYC, just "visiting" for 5-6 years until our next travel....).

Well the street itself is further downtown in to Manhattan, but is easily accessed by the subway. There are several stores and I have a list which I'll post tomorrow. Basically, I went down a few weeks ago and just walked around a 5 block radius and found more than enough stores to spend several hours in.

Here is the site: http://www.citidex.com/646.htm#C3435
Last time I went to Generation Records and Other Music and I definately recommend both for obscure music, prog or not.

Other Music was the best for strictly obscure stuff, but Generation Records had a wider variety

^ Hey Abel. I hope you like the Bronx. I used to teach high school there, but it got too rough for me, so now I switched careers.

I'm definitely up for meeting at the show. My name is Matt. Only problem with meeting up is I don't know what anyone going looks like, except avestin because he has a pic on his profile. I know some are hesitant to post pics, but personally I don't care, so you all can find pics of me at www.myspace.com/wettan. If you're not a member of that site, you'll at least be able to see one pic. I'll try to get to the concert at around 5:00 as you suggested, but I may not be able to make it until door-opening time. We should still grab a beer afterwards, or if the younger guys want to join in, maybe just go get something to eat. I'm always interested in meeting prog-fans ... none of my friends like prog!!!!

By the way, Daniel, thanks for posting that link. I'd check out the stores, but I've made a solemn oath to not buy much music right now, as I'm a poor college student and I really need to save as much money as I can.

Hey I do.! My neighborhood is pretty quiet specially my block and my building(Thanks God!). I am happy in the Bronx and the rent rasonable. You know that the city and boroughs had got so much better and safer I lived in all of them ( manhattan,Queen, Brooklyn) but I prefer the Bronx.
Ok cool.!! I also like to meet prog fans because of the same reason as you my friends and family ( with the exception of my dear uncle who got me into prog and jazz, but He doesn't live in NYlol ) do not like prog at all. most the time I am by myself at concert .
It's a pleasure to meet you and see there at 5:00 PM here is pic of me and my dear wife who can't come because she isn't here at this moment. hah also I saw your pic get ready I am a Met Fan and I am A Yankee hater.lol

Hey,

I don't know if we'll stock around long after tha show as we rely on a train to get back
"home" to P.Jeff on LI. We'll see when it ends and then decide. If yes, we'd love to come a have a drink or a bite.

But we'll be in NYC strolling around, before the show and we can meet before for sure then. So at 5:00 in the box office then?

What's a good time to get inside by the way?

A personal reques to Steven Wilson and Porcupine Tree:

Would be so kind as to play Pure Narcotic or Last Chance To Evacuate Planet Earth in this particlar show, Please? This would make my wife and I very happy and would be a very nice gift for our 13 years anniversary of being together (not married, that's only 2.5 years, but we've been together 13 years). Smile  We will be eternally grateful....

See you there, everyone
