Ian Andersons voice no longer cutting it?

   I was among approx 35,000 to witness Jethro Tull's headlining slot @ the Cropredy Festival on Friday 13th August.

The band were superb, playing well over 2 hours with a good selection of old/new material + a few surprises (never expected to hear 'Mother Goose' played live) - only 1 problem......

During a lot of the old material, Ian Anderson's voice was, I'm afraid to say, appalling: missing notes by miles & really sounding strained - happy to say, though, his flute playing was unaffected, and as fluid as ever.

Anyone else seen them recently? I'm interested to know whether this was a one-off, or is the old fella's voice really on the way out?

	I HAVE NEVER SEEN JETHRO TULL LIVE BUT ON A SIMILAR NOTE,WHEN I SAW DEEP PURPLE IN 1985( "OLD TIMER" FORUM MEMBERS SUCH AS JIM ,VIBE AND OTHERS MAY REMEMBER MY DESCRIPTION,IN THE EARLY DAYS OF THE FORUMS, OF THE NASTY RIOTS AFTER THIS PARTICULAR CONCERT!!) IT TURNED OUT THAT IAN GILLANS VOCALS COULDNT CUT IT ON CHILD IN TIME AND JON LORD USED SYTHISISERS TO COVER HIS VERY HIGHEST NOTES(OR LACK OF THEM!!!) PERHAPS IAN ANDERSON WAS UNDER THE WEATHER OR THE VOICE JUST CHANGES OVER TIME?

	Most singers lose it a little I guess. I think Anderson is just a little hit and miss. When Tull supported Marillion at the Milton Keynes bowl in 86 (?) His voice was pretty shaky then, and that was nearly 20 years ago. I taped the concert, loved the music but was surprised at how bad his voice was. He may be fine next week..

	I remember being quite disappointed with Jon's voice when I heard Yes do the Howard Stern show in '96...granted, it was on a radio show first thing in the morning under less-than-ideal conditions. I'll have a much better frame of reference when I see an actual concert (only a few weeks to go!).
