Topic: Yes vs. Genesis Elimination Tourney 8th ROUND! Posted: April 23 2007 at 20:47 |
Oh boy! Now it's really getting harder... As you know this time you have to choose your favourite album between Yes and Genesis. The tourney started with their debut albums and will stop with their late 70's/early 80's albums. Every round will face the next studio album of both discographies and you have to choose your favourite...
So let's vote. I don't know what I'll do at the end of the 10th or 11th or 12th poll but let's enjoy this musical battle...
Best regards from Chile... (This round will close next thursday)
History of Elimination:
YES Yes vs. GENESIS From Genesis to Revelation
YES Time and a Word vs. GENESIS Trespass
YES The Yes Album vs. GENESIS Nursery Cryme
YES Fragile vs. GENESIS Foxtrot
YES Close to the Edge vs. GENESIS Selling England by the Pound
YES Tales from Topographic Oceans vs. GENESIS The Lamb lies down on Broadway
YES Relayer vs. GENESIS A Trick of the Tail

I will have to go for Going for the One, a really great album. W & W just doesn't come as close as pehaps it should.

It is possible, that this is the last time I'm voting for Genesis. Mostly because I miss every other of these. And it depends on what Yes has to offer.

Going For The One, all the way. Maybe not as progressive as Relayer, but in my opinion the best album Yes ever made. Beautiful, diverse, powerful, and the production is fantastic.
Well, Wind And Wuthering wasn't too progressive either. Tony Banks once said: "You're really talking about Foxtrot four years on." Still, a good album as well, but not one of their top 5 albums, I'd say.

GFTO is one of Yes' best and soundly trounces W&W.

I'm voting for GFTO after what MR Mike Ispeakoutofmybut Rutherford said on the W&W SACD interview.

My votes goes to Wind And Wuthering, probably the last good Genesis album.
