I have tickets for P-Tree, Genesis and Rush. Wheeee!

The last one was the Musical Box, which will probably be a hell of a lot better than the Genesis show, I fear.

Mmm, what else... we don't get much prog in Toronto. I saw Floyd once, and the Church, which is sort of proggy...that may be it! I also had tickets for Nektar and Caravan, but they cancelled the show, which gutted me, I must say.

The best concert I ever saw was Midnight Oil. That's right, Midnight Oil. They kicked my ass all the way over to Sydney. Up the Oils!

My last prog concerts were

1) Time's Forgotten (Excellent prog metal band that opened the Baja Prog)

2) Cabezas de Cera (Avant-Grade band from Mexico)

And my following will be

1) Ezoo (they present their debut in Costa Rica and I'll be there)

2) Angra

3) Probably Time's Forgotten once again

Last was the BajaProg festival. 20 bands in 4 days and absolutely amazing! What a great experience. I wish I could go every year, but I must take vacation time to do it and my non-prog-loving wife doesn't see it as a priority. Before that, it was a Genesis tribute band and the Flower Kings in Whittier.

Next three: Glenn Hughes at the Whiskey. Porcupine Tree at the Avalon, and possibly CalProg.

Mahogany Frog, Chris Cutler and Do Make Say Think play the same week in Toronto and you find you don't get many prog concerts.

Wow, I know places where they'd sign up with both hands to get that in one year.

well, if I lived in Outer Mongolia, I'm sure I'd envy the state of the prog lover in T.O., so I take your point.

Nonetheless, Cutler I can dig, but that Canadian artsy-fartsy alt post rock stuff? Not sure if categorize that as my kind of....prog. I am biased- after spending 15 years as a musician in this country, I am tired of hearing about Canadian bands and hate 'em all!

It's been a while, but my last three were Peter gabriel in 1993, Genesis in 1986, and Marillion in 1985.

My next one will be Nearfest this June.

, the Summers End Festivel September/October (Ezra, Credo, White Willow, Strangefish, Pendragon, Darwins Radio, Pure Reason Revolution, Guy Manning, The Flower Kings).

Next up, Isis next month with any luck.

You are a lucky man chopper seeing Greg Lake live. How did you like the show ? Did you have his autograph ? Did you have the chance to talk to him ? Do you have some pictures ?

I saw Greg Lake twice on his last tour. Hung around afterwards to my Works album signed [the inner cover pic], only need Emerson now and it's complete. OK, I said La Renga. Nothing about prog. It's just I'm so excited to see them again. I mean, La Renga!!!

But, prog shows on the horizon, I don't know. At the date I only know DT is coming.

We seem to be in the same area Terry. I was at the Musical Box show in Whittier in 2004 (only time they came out west) although I missed TFK because I had seen them at Calprog 05.

Oh I forgot, I also saw The Mars Volta opening for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They were ok, but Volta was astounding in every sense! I actually went to teh show for the opening band and that my friends were going.

Canadians and Belgians share the same kind of complex. They always believe that elsewhere things are better, so they forget to look at the local stuff.

I lived in TO in 70's and 80's, and always thought that the local bands did not deserve the international recognition some of them got. (like Saga, Coney Hatch, Honeymoon Suite , Strange Advance etc...) , but on the other hands, some bands were not getting enough of it: Maneige, Max Webster etc...

But I understand that Post rock has now been worn to the threads. After all, it has been ten years since the first GYBE! and DMST albums, and there hasn't been much new under the sun since.

Maybe Canadians had somekind of complex for their music and their groups, but now we realize that our groups were good enough and even better to what was going on around the planet rock.

I am amazed to find that many people likes Rush or even Harmonium, and those people are coming from many countries, in South America, USA, Australia, or Nordic Countries. It's very flattering, because I always tought that Harmonium was somekind of a local group, and not at all an international one.

We also had UZEB ( Jazz fusion band from Quebec...) who was very popular in Europe.
