Cats were born to be chased by dogs, everytime i see a cat in my garden i let the dog out to chase it. Why should i let a cat do what it wants in my garden. After all if a dog sh*ts in your garden, you'd not be amused, but it seems ok for a cat to do so.

All these cat haters....they will pay when a wave of trained cats comes over them, and they are smothered by their fuzz and cuteness.

I don't hate cats, but why should i suffer them using my garden as their toilet. I wouldn't let my dog use anyones garden as their toilet .

I know what you mean - nobody likes to nurture a space, only to have it dumped in by a strange creature, do they?

I really like cats. Thinking 'bout having one myself.

There are lots of allergies in my family, also allergies to cats, hence we didn't buy a cat yet, for fear that our little daughter would be allergic as well.

This doesn't seem to be the case. Last week I got an offer to buy a kitten. Maybe I will.

shame i saw a recent report on the TV about the number of cats and kittens being dumped in this country, partly due to the astronomical fees the vets are charging - the PDSA now only accept pets for treatment whose owners are senior citizens, on benefit or unemployed . so much for a nation of so-called animal lovers! Unhappy

Cats are great & relatively cheap pets until they go wrong... We learned many years ago that veterinary insurance is an absolute must; even then, you have to factor in the excess to be paid before the insurance kicks in (usually between £50/£75 depending on the age of the cat). Notwithstanding this, however, when our late lamented Dweezil had an enlarged heart & hyper-thyroidism over a period of about 5/6 years, the insurance company must've paid in the region of £4/5000 worth of vet bills, during which time we paid about £600 of monthly subscription & maybe a couple of hundred quid for other stuff... the insurance certainly paid its way then.

It's still the same - the cats have private health insurance, but Vicky & I have to rely on the NHS - I think I trust my vets more!

Good advice. If I get a cat, I'll do that.

You can't compare the bathroom habits of a cat (they dig a hole, use it as bathroom, and cover it when they are done...) with bathroom habits of a dog (leaves large amounts of sh*t everywhere... ).

Added later: I've seen dogs also eating their excrements. I dare you to show me a single cat doing that.
