Topic: Progressive Musicians as Wizard Of Oz cha Posted: April 17 2007 at 20:25 |
Who would you cast? These are my pics: Jon Anderson as Dorothy - He has the perfect voice for the role Fish as The Wicked Witch - see above David Gilmour as the Scarecrow - See "David Gilmour: Live In Concert" Chris Squire as the Cowardly Lion - He's got the right build, plus he seems like a cowardly fella Steve Wilson as the Tin Man - His voice has the right amount of dryness and rustiness, and he lacks a heart. Robert Fripp as The Great And Powerful Oz - "PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN!"

I don't think you realize how your post reinforces the uptight, pretentious, overly serious prog sterotype.
it can be fun, enjoy it... or ignore it
(though the topic IS in the wrong lounge)

Geddy Lee as Dorothy - He has the perfect voice for the role
Phil Collins as The Wicked Witch
Syd Barrett as the Scarecrow
George Harrison as the Cowardly Lion - always the quiet one
Ian Anderson as the Tin Man - insensitive for saying he would have been a better fit than Robert Plant in Led Zeppelin
Frank Zappa as The Great And Powerful Oz

My friends and I actually matched them up, it was amazing. (of course it helped that we wern't fully there... if you catch my drift)
oh and a pink floyd line up
Dorthy: Mason (only one through the whole career)
Scare crow:Gilmour (not the smartest composer)
tin man: Waters (that he is heartless)
Lion: Wright (seems the scardy tipe)
The wizard: Syd (the one the others sing about)
the wicked witch: that dude who plays pink in the wall
the munchkins: the millions of hired musisians who are now used live

ooohhhh......burn my favorite so far has been Robert Fripp...basically behind a curtain, surrounded by his big scary computers and machines. "PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE MAN BEHIND THE SOUNDSCAPES"
