Topic: Why are Fantomas and Mr Bungle here... Posted: June 04 2005 at 22:36 |
Tomahawk is enjoyable, their albums run out of steam real fast though.
|
Prog is the new punk, becuase kids who shop at Hot Topic don't know Bill Bruford is God.

I didn't dig any Tomahawk at all. Love the Fantomas/Bungle/FNM stuff, and possibly the Melvins big band (or similar name) since I like the Melvins alone.

This prove you didn't listen to anything of 'em, except Epic.

Why not rename it the MikePattonProgArchives

Now, that's a good idea!
Avant-garde normally
can be classified as prog, because it is, naturally, progressive (in
the true sense of word). As we don't have ANY true classification of
Progressive Rock, every Avant-Garde record can be considered as a Prog
record, IMO...
|
i mean to say they are closer to rap and metal influences than to prog rock ones, it came out wrong. |
Oh, in this case I agree... They have these influences...

Why not rename it the MikePattonProgArchives, his stuff isnt that proggy, yes it's avant garde, and interesting if you like that stuff, but hardly Progressive Rock.
|
Faith No More is crossover, but not even remotely rap.
Peter Gabriel ... I wonder if that is Progressive Rock. More like Avantgarde Pop, or Art Rock maybe ... see how hard it is to distinguish Avantgarde/Art/Experimental/Progressive? I can't.

Why does everyone have to keep questioning the site Admins decisions to include bands?
They set this site up - and they decide what goes in and what doesn't.
If I was in charge, Dream Theater would be out in a heartbeat, and Muse would be in
I'd also include Mariah Carey...

Faith No More is about a tenth metal and about a twentieth rap. And not really avant-garde, either, although Fantomas obviously is, as well as Mr. Bungle to a lesser extent.

The incessant appeals for non prog bands to be on here is becoming very tedious.I love rock music but it is not prog and does not belong on here and this includes all of Patton's bands.

But we CAN'T let them (Faith No More) in, for the same reason that we can't let Queen into the archives. If we do, that means we have to let everyone else come it too!!!!! |
I think that pandora's box was already opened by adding Fantomas & Mr. Bungle ...
