I've been wondering ever since I joined the site...

Just how worthless are you?

In the grand scheme of things, of course. Or Not.

Me, I'm sorta worthless.

Feel free to have in-depth discussions about just how worthless one person or another is.

At home (father, husband) and at work (teacher), I feel worthwhile.

I'm also a good friend to my friends. Smile

My dog and my goldfish seem to like me, too -- particularly at feeding time....Ermm

What about art? Do you pay for music, or is that product of universally "worthless" humans also worthless to you?Wink

Humans have added considerable beauty to the world, via art.

If "god" were about to exterminate us all, I'd propose art (and other things) as a reason not to. Stern%20Smile

If I felt as you claim to, I'd have to seriously consider suicide (please don't, though)!Ouch

I'd wager you won't always feel that way. I vividly remember feeling as you've stated, when in my teens/early 20s. Life can get better with maturity, finding real love, and working toward a meaningful vocation. Try to believe in yourself, and build a better future!

I still don't know yet.
Right now I'm not contributing to society except for paying taxes.
We'll see how useful I am after college.

Do you have any friends? Parents?

I bet you're of considerable worth to them!

Peter, stop it. You're spoiling a perfectly sad thread with your optimism.

I don't feel worthless, just confused.

I picked the 2 cents option. I'm pretty worthless, unremarkable and trite, and I won't be changing the world.

So worthless that I spend all my time floccinaucihilipilificating, just because it sounds cool. Others wise I'm worth just a tiny bi tmore than a drum machine, unless the drum machine is soloing for 18 minutes.

Floccinaucihilipilificate: to estimate oneself as worthless.

Nobody has a clue about their own worth.

Even someone who thinks enough of you to dismiss you attaches more worth to you than a complete stranger.

You never know- you could have said two words to someone in passing that was worth more to them than a decades-long relationship means to a fickle friend.

Kinda funny that people are most likely to interpret the thread title as "how highly do you think of yourself?".
That aspect is probably the most worthless thing about you....or is it? Only by our own perceptions do we apprehend reality, so a thorough judgement of our own worth is an appraisal of existence in entirety.

So anyway, I think I'm pretty worthless but you'd have to ask everyone who's ever known me before you got any kind of accurate answer. Most likely they'd agree, but you never know.

I personally suspect that Peter is worth more than most of us, combined. Wink
