Taken from the official Ian Anderson / Jethro Tull site:
a new acoustic CD will be released: http://www.j-tull.com/news/acoustical.html#tracks.
A compilation of acoustic songs through out the entire career, with a couple (literally) of bonus tracks.
Thinking about this (then) forthcoming release, I expected for something else, but it's my problem.

I wouldn't like to say this, but the rest of the group,
David Goodier Bass guitar and double bass James Duncan Drums and percussion John O’Hara Keyboards and accordion Ann Marie Calhoun Violin Is the crew that was in Finland a while ago, and I've been talking to people, and it appears at least 75% of theme were not happy at all after expecting Tull. frankly Ian couldn't sing very well, and they were acoustic, so they could really hit it, or get it on only during songs with flute and violin as main instruments, and that would make it pretty much bluegrass, which wasn't what they came to listen. Now I know the songs there are top class, but I don't expect much from this album. |

Martin is still there, AFAIK- in this month's Classic Rock, there's an Ian Anderson interview where he mentioned something like Martin Barre couldn't do all the gigs on this tour or some such and would be replaced by Florian Ophalle (who was on the Greg Lake live DVD and is a superb guitarist) for shows Martin couldn't do. In the same interview, Ian mentioned that he was hoping to get a new album out around September/October, I seem to recall. He mentioned that in a recent Record Collector too.

I saw Jethro Tull in november 2004. I really enjoyed what they called the accoustic part of the show, which was the first part. It never sounded bluegrass at all. We also enjoyed a lot the piano solo. Unfortunatly, the good guitarist Florian was not there at the time. This guy is amazing.
Ian Anderson is a nice performer , is still a good musician, and his voice at the time was still good. He likes to tell nice stories about his country ( I think it's Scotland or Ireland ) and about his songs.
I like very much this guy.

Merci Febus. I remember that he was talking about an island between Scotland and Ireland and how his ancestors had "nice sheeps". C'est un bon raconteur d'histoire. Very interesting guy.

Ian hasn't been able to sing since just after "Under Wraps" as far as I'm concerned. Really a shame his throat screwed him over.

Don't really get that rant about him being obnoxious.. he just plays what he wants and he's proud ovit. Apart from some rather "crude" relationship with the critics (which is not really healthy considering not everyone likes his music -although there was an almost unanimous bashing towards APP) he is a very gentle and charismatic stage persona (and some sources who saw him personally say he's a nice geezer)
