Since there are a lot of bass players in the forum, I was just wondering,

What are your favorite prog songs to play on bass guitar?

Ahem, I know you people are out there.

Mine so far (only bits and pieces though) is Distant Early Warning by Rush. and Something For Nothing. Also by Rush. And I'm starting to learn 2112, also by Rush.

hmmm I'm, noticing a pattern Tongue

At my first gig a few months after I started playing bass, we did Rush's "Temples of Syrinx". The whole of 2112 is quite good to play.
Yes' "Perpetual Change" is a goody, although I struggle on the middle section. A lot of Yes is an obvious favourite due to the prominence of the bass.

This may be delayed, but I really like the bass parts on the cover of Pictures at an Exhibition by ELP.I think that Greg Lake is an awesome musician & is somewhat underrated.

I can't tell, he's so undermixed!  He AMAZES me on 21st Century Schizoid Man, but then he sat back and let Keith play all the bass parts with his left hand!

The intro to Dream Theaters Learning to Live is quite fun to play, and Pink Floyds Money is nice to play as well.

Why would you pick a band with such a crappy bass player?  Confused

OK...j/k.  I am a Rush fanatic if you didn't know. Wink

I don't play the bass myself(I'm a guitarist), but if I was, the first thing I'd do would be learning to play Pigs(Three Different Ones). Love the bass on that one Heart
