Thanks, Uwe!

The new link is added. For a while... Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be very informative... Unhappy...

The bio offers also this one: http://rateyourmusic.com/artist/sparifankal . Is this useful?

And, what about some last words of the first paragraph: "...rock music sung in Bavarian language..."? I'd say "a dialect"... Ah, Uwe? What do you say?

Maybe some people are convinced Bavarian is a unique language. There are also some people who want to separate Bavaria from Germany. LOL
But it is a dialect as you say ...

Sparifankal contains a lot more informations.
This should be updated in the bio ...

I've changed the link.

This site, however, speaks itself about "Bavarian language"... Shocked

Please, point out what exactly should be added/changed/removed -- then it'll be done...

The site policy is to offer the official website link (if there is one given).
So it must be http://www.sparifankal.de

There are existing different views about the Bavarian. To maintain a language or dialect can have either progressive or reactionary reasons.
If Bavaria would be a separate state I would admit it as a unique language.
But working for PA this is not our decision - so we have to find a way to write it neutrally.

We can change the last line of chapter 1 to  music sung in Bavarian dialect/language.

http://www.geocities.com/krautrockgroup/Sparifankal.html should be added instead of the two existing links in the bio

My suggestion: Alpinyodelrock has to be a new subgenre Big%20smileClap

Well, Uwe...

I tend to disagree about the site placed as official one. I mean, I don't deny the fact this: http://www.sparifankal.de/ is the official one, not at all, but, admit, it is not informative.

However...
the link is updated...
the "geocities" site is added to the bio...
two previous sites from the bio are deleted (but there's always an option to restore them via this thread...)...

What about such a change: "...rock music sung in Bavarian dialect of the German language" or "...rock music sung in Bavarian dialect of German"? Just a suggestion...

I noticed this discussion and would like to make some general comments:

The site guidelines are as follows:

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

We recognise that many bands do not have official websites as such. The site linked to should therefore be identified in the following order:

  • Where a band has an official site, we link to it

Otherwise, the link should point to a band related site in this order

  • The best unofficial site
  • Any record label site relating to the band
  • Any other site with significant details of the band
  • No link
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

It is unequivocal - where a band has an official site we link to it.

The grey area comes further down .... "
Any other site with significant details of the band" .... in my opinion, this should NOT include other music sites like PA which simply reiterate the information already available in PA, eg Proggnosis, Gnosis, NGER, DPRP etc.

It goes without saying that vendors should not be included,  but the problem there is that some record labels are also vendors (eg Musea).

No problem for me - but it ist not neutral refering to the discussion whether Bavarian is a language or a dialect ...

1. Official and unofficial websites -- I didn't check other groups/artists, but it may happen that there are other examples of such a situation where an unofficial website may be more informative than the official one. Hence the suggestion: to make this practice as a norm -- to put the official website into its template (the third line, after the genre and the country lines), and unofficial one(s) -- within the discography.

2. Bavarian language/dialect -- honestly, I can live with words "Bavarian language" since I didn't write those lines. But it is not the language, and even the separation of Bavaria from Germany wouldn't mean it's a language, because, for example, Austria is an independent country yet its language is still called German, not Austrian We don't even have American language, with all its difference as opposed to English.
From the scientific point of view, I can't be neutral -- it's a dialect. But, once again, I don't care too much for the lines in the band's bio in question.
