Perhaps due to the support of specialised labels the South/Latin-American progrock scene is back on the track? At this moment I enjoy lots of good progrock records from Mylodon Records (Chile) and Record Symphony (Brazil) but how about Record Runner?

Erik, Mylodon records is doing an excellent work, i enjoy so many bands that can be found there, anael and i suggested a "new" mexican band called Arbatel, you can check them also in Mylodon´s page.

Indeed Atkingani, Freudian slip because I wanted to say Rock Symphony but in my head were Brasilian progrock labels Record Runner and Rock Symphony

Great pleasure for me when I see nice comments about our music (latin music). Yes we have inumerous artist in prog rock vein, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Mexico and many others countries. Some artists in Brazil doesn't have any kind of recognize. Unfortunately the music industry looks for comercial music only and the independent labels have too many difficults to survive. But I hope one day all of us will see rock prog bands from south and latin america play good music here and around the globe. We just need to keep the faith in music. Thank you Prog Archives and all people here to support and friendship.

A band from my city (Florianópolis/Brazil):
Experimental instrumental:
COLORIR is a two piece from an island in BRAZIL
that likes to express themselves through live music. Through
espontaneous composisions we create our own music and we like to bring
it to alternative spaces such as beaches , parks , mental hospitals and
the strangest of all...night clubs/pubs.
The debut album is
called "Noite Madrugada Infinito" and it was recorded with a 2 inch
analog tape machine. Mixing was done live as well , on the tape's first
audition. Effects were added as we mixed manually. Songs were inspired
by the night and the mistery of the unknown.

Thanks for the heads up. I haven't been to Mylodon's site in a while. I wonder what is up with Matraz. I need more music from them!!

During my interviews with Angulart (Chile), Amagrama and Nexus (both Argentine) I was told how difficult it is for progrock bands in South-America to survive because of the huge impact of the commercialism  Nonetheless, today I realised that the last months I have only added South-American bands (see my reviews on this site): two weeks ago Diaposao (Brazil) and William Gray (Argentina), last week Astralis and Seti (both Chile) and next week I hope to add Spin from Brazil (Atkingani is helping me to collect information in order to present a decent biography). And I am playing mostly South-American prog the last weeks: from Supay and Nexus to Seti and William Gray, excellent prog so ...

Also fits the description two venezuelan bands: RC2 (prog-metal) and Pig Farm On The Moon (Symph prog) although I think they haven't released albums in quite a while... PFOTM only released one album about 6 years ago.

RC2 that I know are not even remotely metal - typical symphonic prog IMO. Don't know though if they released anything else apart from their first eponymous album.

Has anyone mentioned Haddad yet? They are listed on this site as Neo Progressive, although I´m not too sure they fit in that category.
I was listening to their album from 2004 and it is simply amazing!
I plan to review the album this week.
