At any rate, both were excellent. The Do Make Say Think was a bit out of left-field, but I don't own any of their recorded music (just live boots). The anoying part was that both tracks seemed to segue into the following one on the album! I can't be left hanging like that! This will make the following weeks of waiting much harder. Haha, thank you again, Cham.

I really love the genre, constantly y search for new bands.

 

Found very interesting almost unknown bands like. Clogs, Dirty Three, Esmerine, Foxhole, The Cinematic Orchestra, Labraford, Gastr Del Sol, Landing, Magyar Posse (one of my favorites), Motionless, Polmo Polpo,  Rachel’s, Shalabi Effect, Set fire to flames, Valley of the Giants, The Samuel Jackson Five, Threnody Ensemble, Worlds end Girlfriend etc.

 

They all really good post rock/experimental bands.

I got a hold of "You, You're A History In Rust", and it's completely awesome. Ten times better than their old stuff, IMO.

BTW All of Bamba's recommendations are worth the look although there are some bands I still haven't heard. (Polmo Polpo, The Cinematic Orchestra, Threnody Ensemble)

I might point out that Magyar Posse's Random Avenger was one of the best post-rock albums of 2006 and I can't argue with that.

Thanks! In this case I'll leave the sub-genre case empty when I send the submission material, leaving it the Band Submissions team to decide. I do feel they are progressive and belong to this site, but I have little knowledge on this side of progressive music. They have on each album some shorter songs with a folk component, stronger than on the longer songs I used to compile the sample. However I don't think they can be considered prog-folk.

^^^^  Send it to the genre you think they fit best.  If you're not completely sure then send it to Snow Dog or Mystic Fred since they're in the band submissions team. Maybe they can give an opinion on where to add them.

That's why I love my town, we've got plenty of wonderful indie record stores.
 
By the way, I just met someone who also enjoys the musical landscapes of post-rock! It was delightful. That's rarer than finding a Marillion fan. Finally, someone I can talk about my weird, obscure bands to. I casually mentioned Do Make Say Think, and he said, "They've got a new album coming out." I just stared in disbelief! Anyway, tonight was wonderful all together. I met a girl who was wonderful, and saw some great bands. I don't know why I post all of that here, but I've got to say it somewhere.

Wow, this was exactly what I wanted from them. and the Artwork is FANTSASTIC.
 
 
really enjoyable.
I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

I've heard some lackluster things about the album, and I'm saving my money for You, You're A History In Rust. The songs I've heard didn't really incorporate the new sound from The Rescue that I loved either, but I may give it a shot anyway.

^^^ I listened to it once and it didn't caught my interest as much as their previous studio album. It didn't sounded so different from the rest of their albums either and that turned me off a little. I need to listen to it again though, that was based on my first listen only. I'm more curious to listen to Do Make Say Think's new album. They never maked the same album twice and thats part of why I like them more.

I bought it! I bought it! Lord, what luck! One of my friends had a gift certificate to a local underground (literally) record store, so we all went with her. I went down there and moved towards their D section, just to see if they carried any Do Make Say Think. It took me a while, and I nearly gave up - but I found one album sitting alone! It was You, You're A History In Rust. I just stared and looked around, and beamed at my friends. I said, "This isn't out til Tuesday! But it's here! It's here!" I was greeted with some eye rolls and giggles, but I was just glowing. Anyway, I bought the album, and I'm listening to it right now.
 
It's so wonderful - I've just listened to the first song, and now I'm on the second (with lyrics), though they haven't come up yet. I'll write a full review after a few listens! I can say one thing already: the production is amazing! Raw, but full sounding and really textured too. It's magical.
 
Edit - Just got to the vocals. At first it's a lone singer with a wonderfully deep and rough voice - gravelly. It's joined with some other voices... There's this thundering bass and drum that moves underneath it too! It really fits. The acoustic guitar on this album is really striking, too. I'm going to be ecstatic for a while, I think. Sorry for the fanboyish raving, guys!

Don't worry! It's worth the wait.
 
It's kind of a departure, but I can't speak too much about the differences between this and the previous records. This is the only recorded material by the band that I have, besides some sample songs from the record company's websites. As compared to the live stuff... It's a lot less electronic, and seems to focus on more earthy and acoustic material, but it retains some of the raw elements.
 
Funnily enough, the preview song you posted ("The Universe!") was a pretty complete departure from everything else on the record! It doesn't quite fit with the tone of the album. Everything else is really beautiful, sweeping, and natural.
 
The best song on the album is either the opener or "A Tender History In Rust". The latter is solely acoustic. And "A With Living" isn't the only song with vocals...
