I'm female and know very few women who sleep with lights on, though I know people who fall asleep to music. Well, I did meet a strange person yesterday who said she sometimes sleeps with her TV on, but this just sounds like bizarre behavior of college students. I need it very, very dark, and quiet. Which is not so practical since I need a fairly large amount of sleep but need near-perfect conditions in order to sleep.

I'm male and I sleep with the lights turned out, but witht he TV on and
muted for the light. I find it very soothing and conducive to a
good night's sleep.

From the results I conclude that being male and sleeping with lights on is more prog than the other options. Hah.

I'm a male, and if I could sleep in a coffin, I would... Unfortunately, I'm a tiny bit claustrophobic, plus sleeping in a coffin would really freak out a lot of my friends and family. At any rate, lights off!

"Gender Light goes to Sleep" should be the name of a Japanese avant-prog album.

I can sleep on both conditions, but turn off the lights always. (It's nicer to sleep that way)
Yeah... I though this poll was about some neo progressive album :) Edited by progressive - February 17 2007 at 08:44 |

Hmm... gender and atmosphere when sleeping. Those are two things far from related. This is an interesting poll. Anyways, I am a male who sleeps with the lights off.

I DO like to sleep in complete darkness and total silence! However being the father of 4 and later adding 2 more to my roll I spent almost two decades sleeping with some kind of light (could be a small lamp acting as a reference point) on and hardly any silence at all. As the youngest is now 10, I've been enjoying the pleasure of silence and darkness when sleeping in more recent years...

I prefer the room in which I'm sleeping being dark and slightly chilly/cool. Small noises(like my father watching TV in the livingroom) are also something I'd want to avoid having when trying to sleep. However, if I'm dead tired after a night with little sleep and a hard day at school, I'll fall asleep in a chair or in the sofa, light or no light.

I first thought the post was about something completely different. I thought "Gender light" was like "Coke light" and tried to figure out what might that be. A man with a small penis? A woman with undersized breasts?
