This is not an error report, but rather a suggestion (with a question).

According to PA, Devil Doll is considered an Italian group.

According to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil_Doll, it is as an Italian band as a Slovenian one. At least, it is clearly stated that the band is partly a Slovenian one.

Hence, the suggestion -- to define the band as "Multi-National".

The question -- what do you think about that?

This is what I knew too... Devil Doll are part Italian, part Slovenian, and they come from the border area between the two countries (north-eastern Italy).  They are described on every possible site as a multinational band, therefore I think it is only fair to use this label here as well.

Hi, i dont want to open a new thread, basically what im going to say it`s similar to Devil Doll`s issue.

Stream of Passion are listed as a Dutch band, probably Arjen consider the band from Holland since he, the drummer and bass player are Dutch, but Marcela (singer) and keyboardist are Mexican, and the female guitarist is AMerican if im not wrong, so i assume they are a Multi National band, what do you think??

Personally, I think that, nevertheless, there IS a need for the separate thread (maybe, dealing with such issues exclusively), because, for instance, this thread: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=34329, which was started a couple of days ago, deals with the same issue.

Before this goes any further, I think we need to be clear what we mean by this word 'country'.

I believe it should be one of the following:

1. the country of origin of core band members, or
2. the country in which the band is based, or
3. the country commonly accepted by the world at large

In my opinion, it is not correct to say that because one or more member comes from a different country then it must be defined as a multi-national - it is quite acceptable for a British musician to play in a French band, just like a British person may live in France. If we were to apply that rule, then many bands would become 'multi-national'. We need to differentiate between the 'band' as an entity and its component members.

Most bands are normally associated with just one country. There will be a few special cases like Devil Doll. At the end of the day, what do we gain by defining a band as multi-national if the rest of the world knows them as Dutch?

Thoughts?

Absolutely. An origin of a band member shouldn't count.

A placement should.

Just a note: perhaps, this label of "Multi-Nationalitty" should be changed to a simple "Country A / Country B" format? "Devil Doll -- Slovenia (or Yugoslavia) / Italy". After all, how many such groups do we have? Besides this, the term "Multi-National" says (almost) nothing, whereas the proposed one points out clearly on the relevant country. In ideal world, the click on such a label shoul give reference for both countries.
