Horrible influence on society, but it's funny at times.

I have to go with good because the first three seasons were amazing, definitely one of the funniest cartoons at its time. Everything from the fourth season on sucks, that show stopped being funny and now it's terrible. The jokes are "Like that time I..." or "Remember when I...", there are so many damn flashbacks, and they're almost never funny! But what really bothers me is what they've done to some of the characters, especially Peter and Stewie. They've butchered them so badly I can't stand it. I just can't watch this show anymore, it's that bad. I was so disappointed, since I was so psyched when I heard they were bringing the show back on the air, only to be let down.
But I will say that the new episodes cannot make the older ones look bad, so I still think the show is good, if only for three seasons.
(And since The Simpsons and South Park were mentioned in the choices, I'll just say both of those shows aren't particularly good anymore either.)
OK that's my rant.

I used to like it and haven't seen it recently. It got too watered down and formulaic. There are many better shows out there, but I still have the 1st and 3rd dvd sets (which I never have time to watch anyway)

really crappy show, I've watched almost every episode because my friends loved it. I think its just a bunch of soundbites a bunch of 30 second jokes that have nothing to do with each other. I'd rather watch MTV.

I couldn't choose among the choices because I'm not sure about my opinion.
It's had some truly great episodes, and I'll still collect the DVD's for those good ones. Unfortunately, when it's bad, it's really really bad.
My favorite animated show is The Simpsons. I love that show, particularly the classic seasons of 4-8. Now, they're in the eighteenth season, and some episodes are great, but it's very hit-and-miss. Still, I'm looking forward to the movie this summer.

Darkmatter said it for me. Initially, it was superb, but they should have left it on a high, and not resurrected it when the DVDs became successful.

Pure Comedy Gold. The line from last night's episode where Peter's long lost Irish father finally admits he is his dad goes something like this. "You must the broth of me stubby shelaleigh." Had me rolling as do all episodes.

To add on to my opinion, I think that had the show never been canceled to begin with, it could have continued to be good, but the layoff just killed it. The first three seasons were genius, it could have had so much more potential if it was never canceled.

I still think the best western cartoon is either Futurama or Dangermouse. hated Family Guy mostly because the writers realised they were being so daring and taboo-breaking that it's just a contrived way of stringing together a bunch of jokeless but varyingly offensive sketches without the need for exposition.

Tedious rubbish. Poorly written, poorly directed, ill-conceived and moronic. There are so many countless better cartoons to be watched. It baffles me how it remains so popular.

I love it. Some of the more recent episodes have been disappointing, but Seasons 4, 5 and 6 are far from poor, though. Some of the episodes have been just as good as those in 1-3.

Great show, but the recent newer seasons aren't as good as the earlier stuff.
