If by Windows audio file you mean, .WAV then you can use either of these freeware products:
CDex - http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdexos/ (it will handle standalone converts from .wav to .mp3 and vica versa)
or
Audacity - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
I use both. They are both easy to use and work like a charm. Good luck.

If you want to convert WMA to MP3, my advice is not to. Instead re-rip the CD with something that isn't Windows Media Player and write it directly to MP3.

That's transcoding! You'd be labeled as unpure by the mp3 fanatic community! ...but seriously, I'd rip your mp3's again using EAC. It's free and it does a great job. Then you can encode to mp3 in a variable bitrate. |

I have this program. It comes with so much stuff that at first I left it alone because I'm not the tech saby. But eventually I came around to use it. But lately it's acting up again. Like when I drag and drop, suddenly all cuts disappear (?). Eventually I find the cuts in another configuration but then I can record it to CD. Any advice |

I don't think I can help you as I haven't experienced that problem, but have a look through the dBpoweramp Support section of the website. Try contacting them if you don't find help there. |

I misread this thread's topic - at first I thought it read
"Make audiophiles into MP3" Guess that would have been quite impossible.... Edited by Angelo - February 11 2007 at 07:43 |

I use DBpoweramp and have never had a problem with it.
I use it to convert tracks that get sent to the site for use on the Streaming Player.
