The latest from the band:
It has been a bit of a silent 2007 so far, and we're sorry we haven't written to you sooner - but it's going to be worth the wait! As most of you probably know, our new (and 14th!) album "Somewhere Else" is now finished, set to be released on 9th April 2007, and is one hell of an album. Unlike previous years where we've had extensive pre-order campaigns, this album is taking more of a "normal" course into the shops - but of course we've found a way to put a twist on it. We will not be selling the album on our website until it's released, but our friends at Townsend Records will be putting our album on sale NOW for advance order... and not only that, if you pre-order from them you'll get Something Else: an exclusive DVD of 3 new tracks from "Somewhere Else" recorded live at the Marillion Weekend 2007 as part of your order. This DVD won't be for sale - it's ONLY available if you pre-order "Somewhere Else" from www.townsend-records.co.uk/marillion - not too bad, eh? What lovely chaps they are. More details about the new album and some new desktop wallpapers are also available at www.marillion.com, and when we get back from the Marillion Weekend 2007 we'll put up some sound clips, too. ...And speaking of the Marillion Weekend, we hope you enjoy the teasers at the warm-up show in London, and see some of you in The Netherlands this coming Friday! Well after Marbles I`m gonna have to wait and see because I didn`t think porcupinemarillion worked all that well , so I`ll just wait and see , read some reviews frustrating thing is I know Marillion could still be a great band but this radiohead porcupine tree influence is killing them, making them popular but absolutely killing them

I hear no Radiohead or Porcupine Tree influence on them at all.

Not sure what I'm going to do. I wish their website had the pre-order. I'd like to make sure the band makes as much as possible.
Undecided at this point. E |

Well they did cover Fake Plastic Trees on one of their live albums (I think Unplugged at the Walls was the one), so that could mean Radiohead has a slight influence, but I don't hear any Porcupine Tree in their sound. |

Well as long as its not a disc of music I'm ok with not having it in my collection.
So waiting is what I'll do.

Just added the DVD Bootleg Butlins from their 2005 marillion weekend to the site (same show as the Smoke and Mirrors albums, on DVD). should be for sale at the 2007 weekend, so if you go there don't forget to buy it. over-stock will be for sale through Racket records (see website)http://www.marillion.com/music/dvd/bootbut.htm

I can't wait to hear the new stuff and the only thing I'm hoping for is that "Somewhere else" will have a little more power/energy than "Marbles" had... I love this band for always having made new, exciting albums that added a lot to their ouevre since Hogie's singing, long as they're progressing that way and make me feel their music is ALIVE I'm going to be happy as a kid with every new release

Hogarth said that Marbles didn't really rock much, and that Somewhere Else will rock much more so! I've heard a forum member on the official Marillion forum say that H's singing on the album is wonderful too! I'm expecting something like Anoraknophobia mixed with Season's End.

Marillion.Com has it's Wilsonesque moments, but that's mostly because of the production . And Radiation has its Radiohead fragments. I don't think any of these is bad though |

True about .com, but I think that Radiation takes more influence from The Beatles than Radiohead. |

"Tumble Down The Years" has a distinct Beatle-esque sound to it.
Like Stonebeard, I've heard that the new album will have more of an energy to it and a lot less layers than Marbles. It's taking too freakin' long to be released, though. E |

this is the second album I know of which will be published in early March. I will definitely go for the one which will be published 4 days earlier and leave out the new Marillion release. the band was bearable with Fish in it, and "Fugazi" even has some moments, in my opinion, but Hogarth is a catastrophy (one of the most expressionless singers I ever came across), and the band as a whole changed for the worse. not that I ever was a big fan of them

Suit yourself, but I have a hard time envisioning this disc NOT being the best CD I buy in 2007. Could be a close race with the new Neal Morse, though.
