Steve Vai is an Alien on the guitar. How can you NOT classify him as progressive.

He's on the site as Prog Related, which I think is a pretty good description of his music (that is, slightly Prog).

Yeah, he has some pretty prog moments, for example the extremely complex and thrilled "Fire Garden Suite", a great song, BTW! Clap
Also, his music is different from non-prog, because there's a lot of virtuosism and experimentation, I mean, all his music precises a lot of experimentation, BUT not being experimental itself. Don't know if I expressed it correctly. Here in the archives I agree with his classification (Prog Related), because he isn't Prog Metal or any other genre listed here, since on this site doesn't exist the so called "Guitarist album" genre.

^ what you're writing suggests that you simply don't know his experimental works ... am I right? e.g. Flexable, Flexable-Leftovers, Ultra Zone, Reflections ...
