I can definitely relate to that. When I first started my current job (in 1987) I used to go drinking 2 or 3 times a week. If I got into work the next day with a hangover, a greasy sausage sandwich from the canteen (with brown sauce) would soon sort that out. Now I go out occasionally, have maybe 2 or 3 pints and it takes me about 3 days to recover!

I used to know a joke about Horlicks... and Hormones, come to think of it... long forgotten now, though...

I'll have you know I still have all my own teeth though, Fanny - well, a classic 1970s combination of twisted molars, chipped enamel & ancient fillings, anyway

I've seen them, they're in a jar on top of the Hammond organ.

at my school the cane was used regularly - it was this humiliating punishment that made us into the upstanding citizens we are today - having regular nightmares and always looking over our shoulder....Confused

Being told to bend over, baring one's buttocks to an older man & receiving a damned good thrashing never did me any harm

Oh, sorry - you were talking about school, were you?

Between the porridge, Headmasters and swots, it's getting so an American can barely fathom this place.

don't worry, no one else can fathom this place either, especially the contributors - anything for a laugh on a cold winter morning!
