Topic: The Doors Poll Posted: January 22 2007 at 18:27 |
All 4 are epics from The Doors.
Which one is your favorite?
Moderators: You can move this to the "prog related" section. I put it here because I cannot create a poll in there for some reason.

It is The End for me, and Riders on the Storm comes in second.
But all are great !

The End although the choice was tough.

Don't ask me why I picked The End. Light My Fire was more revolutionary for it's time than epic material, unless by epic you mean long. The Soft Parade would have been a good option, too.

He-he, an impossible one. Absolutely impossible. The very fact of voting means you have to rule out three out of these four. Personally, I can't do it.

he he.
I don't care much about the end, but the choice between the other three is kind of impossible.
EDIT: Wow The end is winning by a landslide! I thought all tracks would get at least 15% of the votes.

Light my fire is great but not my favorite. The End is a marvelous jamming passed on as a song, with some great parts but not a real song structure to speak of... It's between the sheer elegance, the class, the finesse of Riders on the Storm and the trip, the voyage through music that is When the Music's over. I guess I'll go with this last one.

The End is one of my favorite Doors tunes,so the choice is pretty easy.

All four are amongst the greatest rock songs ever written. I have long considered "Riders On The Storm" as the greatest single of all time and would be in the running for greatest song ever so....not surprisingly, that got my vote!

Light My Fire, the guitar and organ solo are so perfect.

I played LA Woman this weekend, and when Riders on the Storm was over, I was speechless with incredulity. It is the perfect blend of poetry, errie production effects (the storm, Jim's whispering accompaniment to the vocal track), and fiery instrumental improvisation (one of Mazarek's shining brilliant moments is the solo during that song; Krieger's "Ghost Riders in the Sky" reverby guitar.
The amazement...the amazement...

When The Music is Over.
Also a point of interest, Light My Fire was written by the guitarist (I can't remember his name right now) and it was also the very first song he wrote.

Riders, could have been any of them though! "The End" always gives me Apocalypse Now flashbacks.

I voted for "Light My Fire" although "The End" is my fave one.
The reason ?
I went and see "The Riders From The Storm" two weeks ago in Antwerp (Belgium). The last encore was "Light My Fire" and it was grandiose.
Cheers.
