Since it is part of the general symphonic prog rock, italian symphonic prog is different from a stylistic point of view, mainly. The most important is that it is "melodic" even if this is not always true. Just listen to Il Balletto di Bronzo, for example.

 

Other important so-called symphonic bands are not really symphonic, as Osanna for example!

 

This is why we're trying to define better through the Rock Progressivo Italiano term.


but i think other countries also have their own styles and musical atmospheres as well, perhaps there are something 'special' that makes Italian prog has it's own genre ?

I personally show a strong interest for the 70's / 80's italian production in spacey sounding electronic epics (Franco Fabbri, Falsini, Bianchi, Francesco Cabiati at the top)

and fantastic 'heavy quasi-sympho prog' music it is.. as a non-italiian speaker, of course, the lyrics don't put me off a bit.  The 'spoken word' style from the vocalist is pretty frickin cool.  I'll see about wranglin' up a copy for you in the team thread.  I love the album.. my fair partner aside LOL  High up on my albums to review since no one on the team has reviewed it yet. The 'bible' has a nice little write-up on it.

My problem is that to have "LuxAde" and the Faveravola I had to ask to Andrea Cortese if ordered me them since in the shops of Pordenone do not order me a copy (told me that would do an order.  However then they would stay unsold because no it knows these bands) and the more neighbor than shop has a good catalog Prog has not contemporary things.  Luck that I knew Andrea Cortese and the Pick Up Records..."

A great album, indeed, Micky!Clap
 
A wonderful mix between prog folk and jazz rock with hints of symphonic flavour! The record sounds sometimes obscure and sinister and it's a marvellous experience for ears. What a pity the band released only an album! Attilio Regoli formed Samadhi (more jazz rock inspired) but, after an album in 1975, also this band disbanded!!!!

Uhm...  ATTILIO Regoli?  The true name of the singer is LUCIANO Regoli.

3 stars JAZZ ITALIAN SYMPHONIC PROG

This concept album on an astronaut that returned on the Earth discovers that all was destroyed is not badly. Certainly it is aged badly, but it am listened to still with pleasure.

As for the music be is essentially a simple Italian Symphonic Prog if not pits for a good injection of Jazz. To the same time it toils to take off, since Luciano Regoli has not significant parts for its voice (that because of technology of the period much is limited). If I should choose the better songs... Then I choose: "Nulla", "Su Una Rupe", "Il Mondo Cade (Su Di Me), "L'ombra" and "Sogni Di Cristallo". Without nothing to remove the album I appreciated motr "L'ombra" in the compilation "I Grandi Successi Del Rock Progressivo Italiano" that in its original context.

If alone pits aged better...

3 stars ANOTHER ITALIAN (AND PROG) SUPERGROUP

In fact Luciano regoli and Nanni Civitenga form the group after the dissolution of Raccomandata Ricevuta Ritorno calling Stefano Sabatini (from Free love and Kaleidon), Aldo Bellanova (from I Teoremi), Ruggero Stefani (from L'Uovo Di Colombo) more two other musicians. And with the help of the poet Enrico Lazzareschi (the treats the lyrics) put in foots these Samadhi. The genre proposed is not very Symphonic. Rather itn is an album in some point Jazz (Stevo Saradzic is not badly but is academic in the use of the sax) and POP with good Prog Pages. Everything is wisely arrenged because everything seem solider and Prog. Sincerely, nevertheless, it is the album in my possession where Luciano regoli it am listenned to better, a lot the production gives back being able it and do not obviate. The better things? "L'Angelo", splendid Not Symphonic Prog with an excellent piano (but is noted little), a big Luciano Regoli and, in general, an excellent test of the band and the final "L'Ultima Spiaggia"

Summarized: Not Fundamental. However this is had to to the fact that their label them did not ever push how deserved and result of everything this the Samadhi do not had the success that deserved. Sincerely, however, with a minimum promotion they would have produced also other album. To margin I want to make note that Nanni Civitenga at present col is pledged the orchestra of television transmission "Piazza Grande" in wave from Monday to Friday on Raidue.

4 stars POWER SPEED PROG METAL

If loved the Angra this CD is an excellent purchase. If fond Symphony X, Vanden Plas, Royal Hunt and Dream Theatre is a good purchase. Here it sings Luciano Regoli, good singer (already with RRR in the 70's). It has not a big voice but them the technologies of record save it.

However a lot of keyboards. Things the music becomes Prog. Otherwise it is too Speed Power Metal. Instead in the ballad or in the mid tempo it is a lot Neo Symphonic Prog. The better pieces? "Guiding Light", "I'll dream Of You", "Deep Inside" (with the extraordinary partecipation of Cristina Cioni and its very attractive voice), "The Other Side (where is the Prog? "Slave And Master" of the Purple here is summarized... And however awn the better piece for the voice of Regoli as well as the more dragging!), the "Looney Tunes Beep-Beep Speed" "Waiting For Sunrise" (but the Angra is another group or the DGM under lied bare?) and "A Drop Of Shadow". Classic Prog Metal and how it is used in those years a lot 80's Metal oriented.

Fine disc, there is not that to say... Excellent to listen to in car with a girl near.

I answer:
"To my warning “Per.. Un Mondo Di cristallo" is a good album.  The songs are very good and valid because want to be a hybrid between Jazz and Symphonic Prog.  Nevertheless I find that the production ruin the disk and, therefore, also the songs.  So it is are aged badly and they do not succeed to express their glamour.  However it is true it is an album that deserves 4 stars.  Nevertheless I see it so and for my meter of judgment 3 stars are just."

5 stars THANKS AMS

Here to you the original concept! In fact the United Artist distorted the concept of the album doing a new mix and inverting the order of the sides of the LP only to have a Hard Rock beginning!!! Instead today we have the original version thanks to the AMS/ BTF. It is necessary to say that the result is a simple album of Symphonic Classic Music composed from Enrico Rosa and is only Rock for the instruments used. The original concept was based on the nonsense of the war. Using the a lot of instruments available a clear moment of peace and harmony was recreated even if in the medieval age (you see name of the band and the cover) and for this the music is very sweet. Nevertheless the electric guitar of Enrico Rosa represents the agression of troops in gear. And all to show the nonsense of the war. And I should say that the parts more Hard Rock give back well the idea of the agression like the sweet parts give back well the idea of the peace and harmony.

Summarized: Thanks to the AMS/BTF we can admire the work how thought about the origin (but if gone out by name Osh Gosh Bigosh [fortune that changed name...] would have done the same effect?). And the 5 stars are actual for this version. Otherwise it alone 4 would have deserved of it!!!

TRIADE — La Storia di Sabazio

4 stars MORE ITALIAN CLONE OF THE ELP THESE TRIADE OR THE THE TRIP OF "TIME OF CHANGE"? DIFFICULT TO ESTABLISH IT!!!

I knew already "Caro Fratello", extraordinary song because combines the classic Italian POP (Rock Progressivo Italiano) with Curved Air, Renaissance and ELP. Nevertheless the whole album plays on parts of organ clear ELP and parts more near the Classic Music (typical of the RPI). Nevertheless it is not this the true difference with the ELP how much the scarcity of a ballad to it "Lucky Man" or to it "C'est La Vie". And yet the organ plays so ELP... It is not a difficult album to include also because the result is a very logical album that plays on the technique to simplify the arrengements (that to seem me too light). Nevertheless actual the insertion of the typical elements of the Italian Prog (I think about "Caro Fratello" or to "1998") give back the proposal of the Triade very original. The Suite "Sabazio", divided in four parts (in truth 4 individual songs), is the classic example of Suite of the Italian Prog and is not weighing like a lot other Suite.

Is "Banco 1980" prog or pop? I am only interested in the former, their early releases are amongst my Italian prog favourites.

"To my warning “Per.. Un Mondo Di cristallo" is a good album.  The songs are very good and valid because want to be a hybrid between Jazz and Symphonic Prog.  Nevertheless I find that the production ruin the disk and, therefore, also the songs.  So it is are aged badly and they do not succeed to express their glamour.  However it is true it is an album that deserves 4 stars.  Nevertheless I see it so and for my meter of judgment 3 stars are just."
