                   COMBINATION OF THE TWO

For house use:

Sugden Le bijou

Superb solidstate headphones amp, pure Class A.
Extremely musical and very transparent. To let heat several hours (Class A) to reach full capacity.
Can be used as a preamp, but not as good as headphones amp, its real function.

No need to present the Sennheiser hd 600, the best electrodynamic headphones ever, but which need to be drived properly by a dedicated amp.

Cable/plug can be upgraded, by "Stefanaudioart" products:

FOR THE GREAT OUTDORS, cheap thrills

The Etymotic research ER 4 P in-ear headphones has been specially designed for low-impedance portable sources.

If you really want a MP3 source, go for an Ipod, there are the "less worst" MP3 players.

If you want a real great source, go for the ultimate tape Walkman, the WM-D6, available on second hand.

WM-D6

A professional machine, at the level of big tapedecks, and featuring recording function. You can even use it to
record a live concert with a good result.

I am considering buying a pair of HD600's, and a headphone amp once I get some money. How much does that amp cost?

In the UK they are about £700.  I have one and it's excellent with HD600s or HD650s.  Not cheap though.

The Musical Fidelity X-Can v3 is considerably less expensive and is said to be very good:

I have not actually heard it though.

Yes, the Musical fidelity is not bad, but far from the Sugden. The Sugden is a winner.

Plus it sound superb, it's a beautiful machine with a thick aluminium robe, a beautiful look plus a remote control to pilote volume and all functions of a CD player. (It works with my Sonic Frontiers transport).

The kick is that i listen from my bed (not far from my system), and lying enjoying my HD600 drived by Le Bijou, able to change volume or track.

I'm about to upgrade my HD600 with the Stefanaudioarts race cable/plug:
