I'm a Winamp "pro" ... what do you want to know? It has so many features - I wouldn't know where to begin. |

^ I hope you're using the latest version ... which skin? You can choose between "classic" and "modern", and you should chose the new one.
The most important button is the one labelled "ML" - the media library. In the media library you can click the button labelled "Library" in the lower left corner, then choose "Media Library Preferences". In the preferences choose "Media Library" -> "Local Media" and add the folders which contain music files (called "Watch Folders" in Winamp). There you can also configure Winamp to automatically scan these folders for new (or missing) files. |

foobar is another player, other than being a competing product it has nothing to do with WinAmp.

Of all of the well-known Media Players out there, Winamp is my favorite.
I really appreciate the fact that I can play RealMedia files with just the simple codec and plug-in installed, instead of having to use RealPlayer....which is a RealPieceofSt. Winamp will play everything that I've encountered as long as you have the right codecs and plug-ins to do it. Also, being a big fan of retro Video Game Music, there are Winamp plug-ins that will play the soundtrack files for every system. The NotSoFatso plug-in, for the 8-bit Nintendo soundtracks, will allow you to mute or solo individual instruments as well as change the waveforms for them to make the tunes sound different. It's VERY cool! |

Shouldn't we try to be polite to each other here on the forums? |
