I disagree with you there.
Ship's middle is fantastic IMO. And Joe's Garage is one of my favorites, especially Act I. Thing-Fish is about a three star album. Hilarious, good musicianship, great vocal performances...the only thing I really don't like is the reworked tracks, but some of them are decent. All in all, solid stuff.

Ship is a little overly-commerical for me, and I think that Joe's Garage is a little tasteless

It may be tasteless (I think songs about having sex with robots be just a bit too over the top)... still, it's probably the last masterful Zappa studio record to be released.

Alright then, Terry Bozzio is the one redeemable part of the album... as he is pretty funny at times. And with Francesco, it showed that Frank liked to try new things. Now where's my money?
