Many of the bands listed on the site shown as emanating from England, Scotland and Wales actually contain members from two or sometimes all three countries. Marillion (Fish era) and Gentle Giant are two bands which come to mind straight away.

The present separate listings for these countries has therefore been abolished in favour of a single entry for the United Kingdom. Any bands from Northern Ireland would of course also appear under United Kingdom.

No change to the forum countries.

Sounds sensible to me.
However it was interesting to know for exmple that Gnidrolog originated in Wales, although one of Goldring brothers is now council of Lewisham (?), which is borough of London, I guess.

I understand SD. In fact there was very little maintenance to be done for the change in terms of reassigning bands.

The intermingling of the home country races meant that the current tags were inaccurate and confusing. Many of the bands should in reality have been multinational!Confused

The biographies can of course be updated to specify the country of the UK where required, although i think many will already do so.

Fine! And if it's noticeable and distinguished, like Gnidrolog or Beggar's Opera, bios may inform their backgrounds. Thumbs Up

Final votation at the Admin Team was:

I think Snow Dog was talking about "one of Goldring brothers is now council of Lewisham (?), which is borough of London, I guess." When they are from Wales.

I like the Untied Kingdom idea. Thumbs Up

MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!

Yes, I seem to recall that Art Rock band 'Jump' have a lead singer from Bangor (North Wales) a Bassist (?) from the Welsh Valleys and 4 other members, mostly from the home counties..LOL

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson
