All three, the reason they are such a great band is how well they play off each other. Notice how they rarely make solo albums (I know of only one Geddy Lee release, and none from the other two)

Musically, I think Peart is the best in his instrument but Lee is the foundation of the band's sound.
Physically, Geddy Lee is only defeated by Steve Howe in most horrendous prog-musician ever. Howe looks like a mummy after reading the Scroll of Life, Lee looks like a witch without her cone hat and the broom.
Homoerotically, I'd stick with Lifeson. he looks more healthy, though I'll be honest, I'd prefer a pop princess rather than a prog prince. |
Absolutely priceless! I laughed my head off when I read the part about Howe and Lee.

You have never sampled the delights of Alex Lifeson's wonderful solo effort - Victor?
It is different to the usual Rush sound, and almost grungy at times. But still it's very good.
Lee's is closer to Rush, both in the songwriting and, of course, because of that voice. Also very good.

such a difficult choice as they compliment each other so well
Peart the sophisticated author and wizard drummer. and his showmanship who else can pull off the golden 60 piece set?
Geddy who can lay down some of the best bass sounds while using his voice (which sometimes is just so awesome) and he's got such great stage performance
Alex of course is the comic relief, and a good guitarist as well.
I can't think off how I'd vote for anything but all 3

Gotta go with all 3, each one is absolutely indispensable to the Rush sound. That said, being a guitarist, I'm a little more partial to Lerxst.

i'd say Lee and Peart are more amazing than Lifeson and i don't mean anything bad for Alex, he's a great guitarist and composer but those other two... oh, man, they blow my mind...

I like all three!
If I had to choose who go out for a beer with, it would depend what sort of evening I wanted. If I wanted an intellectual discussion about politics or literature I go for a beer with Neil. If I wanted a good piss up, good punch up and to end up in a police cell, I go out with Lerxt!

I was talking with this local sound guy who knows Geddy and Alex pretty well (says Neil is a good guy, but very closed off) and he said something that got me to wondering. I guess Geddy highly respects Ian Crichton of Saga and said that if he ever did a solo album that he'd want Crichton to be the guitarist. Of course, this was a long time ago and Ben Mink ended up being the primary guitarist on his solo album; but, makes me wonder how Rush may have changed if Alex ever left and Ian was asked to join the band. I'm glad it's never happened because Alex is an amazing guitarist, but still makes you go, "Hmmmmm."
