well how was your christmas holiday, grey people? mine was perfectly boring, unexciting, excrutiatingly tedious and mind numbingly dull, just as it's supposed to be! i got time to sit and listen to lots of music, and i managed to do some experimenting with transferring vinyl and tapes onto cd with my new "magix" audio cleaning lab, with some brilliant results - though after hearing "chronicle of the black sword" for the eighth time it got a bit tedious, but i have the technique nailed down now.

That's great, I've been wanting to do that as well over the years.

Went through my old cassettes recently to see what was worth copying to computer. Got about 30 minutes worth out of 100 or so cassettes. Most of it I'd either bought on CD or grown out of. Need to do the vinyl at some point but that'll take longer.

I can't believe my pelargoniums are still alive and kicking, i've NEVER known them to last this long, usually a heavy frost in november kills them off, i brought the best ones in to overwinter in the conservatory, maybe i won't have to replace the border ones in the summer at all!
having a big new year clearout - all my cassette stuff as i don't use any of it anymore, and various cd players and speakers, cables etc. all going on ebay this month, my living room looks like a hi-fi store.
something big and life-changing always happens to me when there's a "7" in the year - 57, 67, 77, 87, 97, - 2007??
things to look forward to this year - Deep Purple in April at Wembley, and the new PT album!

All the cassettes went by way of the bin at the beginning of last year, I keep trying to persuade Vicky that most of my vinyl could go the same way, but she seems reluctant to allow me to dispose of it all (not even my old Saxon albums ).
Maybe I could store them in my shed...
Photo to follow, honest
Things to look forward to in 2007 so far... Musical Box in Bristol (Neil, I've forgotten the date again ) & hopefully Canada in July
All I need to do now is lose the pounds my mother forced on me at Christmas (so much food, so little time).

You definitely up for that then? If so I'll order the tickets. 9th March.

Whereabouts in Canada are you planning on going, Jim? The Quebec/Montreal area perhaps? Anyhow if you do I'd be glad to have a wee pint with you... if that's at all possible. It'd be fun to talk prog with an actual member .

Mine & Vicky's plans (all being well with out potential host...) are to join one of PA's elder statesmen in Saint John on Newfoundland in mid-late July (is Newfoundland technically Canada?? ) - there to enjoy many beers, much photography, taking absolute b+llocks (see beer reference), my birthday on 24th & the Saint John folk festival...

put on your gum boots and mow the lawn...
Let's weed!
under the rose bush, the prickly rosebush"
Happy birthday David!

And a good time ye shall have since Newfoundland has absolutely amazing folk music and the beer... . As for Bowie turning sixty: I hope to look half as good at that age!

His shed is probably full of old glitter containers, space costumes, hair dye, and address books with models' phone numbers.
