Maybe I was a bit harsh but it just angers me when people with little or no talent insult people or things that they don't have a full understanding of or realize the amount of work that some people pour into their livelihoods. There is a lot of music here on the archives that aren't my cup of tea or I might find the lyrics to be poor. But if other people do like these bands and there is obvious talent, I won't go bashing, especially if I don't know the whole scope of an artist.
Perhaps the term "stupid" was thrown out in haste. But I would hope there would be a better way to get across your initial reticence to the concept than a word like that. |

I think the subject of the album is relevant and absolutely crucial when you think about what young people conceive as "reality" nowadays. So, at the end of the day, these lyrics will say much about where our societies could be going in the years to come. Who really wants to call that "stupid", eh? Maybe just some young guys with no perspective from the outside whose X-Box is a god to them.

How about we simplify it for you? Its about how today's youth cannot relate to anything unless it is presented as a simple soundbite, has visual representation like a music video or is contained in the context of a video game. It has to be flashy and trashy and avoid higher, more cerebral concepts for fear of being branded "stupid". |

I actually don't care if it leaks or not.. I downloaded Deadwing about 3 weeks before its release and what happened was that I instantly ran over to the nearest record shop and bought it... (and won another copy of it only a week later along with 2 tickets for one of their shows in Amsterdam that year)... But I managed to get rid of one copy by giving it to a good friend of mine since she was beginning to like PT herself ... Still have two copy's of Deadwing left though (Retail and Ltd) |

I was merely saying that from the information that was given, the overall concept seems kind of stupid. I know that in the end it won't be, because it's being handled by SW, but if any other person did this, the outcome would probably be really stupid and shallow (not pun intended.) I have faith in SW, don't worry. I know that it's not always the concept, but rather, what you do with it that's important. He can make it work. |

Why bother when you can buy the new version (the Digipack re-issue) and just reburn the tracks to be the following: 1. The Sky Moves Sideways Phase One 2. Dislocated Day 3. Moonloop (Improvisation) 4. Moonloop (Coda) 5. The Moon Touches Your Shoulder 6. Prepare Yourself 7. The Sky Moves Sideways Phase Two It includes the longest version of Moonloop recorded and it all fits onto one Disc, at almost 75 minutes. The only reason the re-issue is two discs is because it includes the full 34-minute version of The Sky Moves Sideways. Anyways, great album TSMS, and I'm really looking forward to FOABP! I can't wait for it, and it's shaping up to be a great album, with awesome lyrics and themes! -Marc. Edited by The Letter M - January 07 2007 at 22:20 |

I know what I like and I like what I know. I will choose a path that's clear, I will choose free will. If I die tomorrow, I`d be alright because I believe that after we`re gone, the spirit carries on.

Im looking for the first press of The Sky Moves Sideways if anybody knows where I can buy it please let me know, ive even tried Ebay. Im not talking about the digipack re-issue, im talking about the regular jewel case version with the track Moonloop on it. This one:
1. The sky moves sideways phase one (18:37)
2. Dislocated day (5:24) 3. The moon touches your shoulder (5:40) 4. Prepare yourself (1:54) 5. Moonloop (17:04) 6. The sky moves sideways phase two (16:46) Thanks alot.

Cool it, they know not what they say.... Bless the poor little lambs. They havent read the lyrics yet and them calling the theme "stupid" has probably made Steven's day! |

A few of you call the concept "Stupid." Okay, super geniuses, post some of your lyrics and then I'll go ahead and read one of two and then dismiss you and your work out of hand. What a joke. When you can carry SW's jockstrap (to borrow a sports analogy) then I might give anything you ever have said in your life one second of my time.

I like the messgae here - but quite honestly the theme could be anything - I don't really care. I know whatever it is it will be awesome. The sound that is Porcupine Tree just pulls me in and never lets go.
The best band I have discovered in decades. Period. |

The Xbox is my friend. My...only...friend...
Not quite. You want to know something ironic, though? When I first bought my Xbox360, it came with about 20 songs by various bands on the hard drive, one of which was "Shallow" by PT. Sweet, sweet irony. I would have put Arriving Somewhere But Not Here on it, but oh well. Surely gave PT a somewhat wider audience. |

YES!!! Thumbs up for SW! The album's concept is very actual! Because is really worrisome how the TV Rating is destroying us for example with that damn reality shows! Fear of a Blank Planet is the perfect title!!! And BTW if Mr. Wilson and Mr. Akerfeldt are going to work with Mr. Portnoy Don't you think that they should make a cover of the song DISAPPEAR by Dream Theater? Imagine how it will sounds in the voice of Akerfeldt and the vocal harmony with Wilson... |

Yeah Deadwing leaked but I managed to be a good boy and resisted temptation. What gets me is that it can only be someone associated with the record company who is leaking these albums onto the internet. Which reminds me, I am presuming that when we buy from "Burning Shed" more of the money gets back to the band. http://www.burningshed.co.uk/ptshop.asp |

Can't wait for it!!! When I saw them play the new material live it was quite impressive, I don't think it will disappoint! I just hope it doesn't leak because it will be very hard to avoid temptation...
