I'm not quite sure if this is true, but it seems legit.

(Quoted from Prodigal_Son at the PTF Forum) "It's called "Fear of a Blank Planet." SW is putting the finish touches on the album this week in Belgium for the album, set for release on April 24, according to a press release I just received via email. It also says that the lyrical content of the song cycle on the album is a "21st century cocktail of MTV, sex, prescription drugs, video games, the internet, terminal boredom, and subsequent escape. The title track, propelled by nervous, jittery energy, sums up many of the album's themes: 'Xbox is a go god to me. Finger on the switch/my mother is a bitch/my father gave up ever trying to talk to me.' " ("The press release was from Shore Fire, the PR agency in the US that is handling both PT and Blackfield publicity. They're a pretty big PR firm with clients such as Norah Jones, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, etc., so that's good news for the band.")

The album title is obviously a riff on Public Enemy's "Fear of a Black Planet."

Into this wild Abyss the fiend
Stood on the brink of Hell and looked a while,
Pondering his Voyage.

Clap Noice. I dunno about the theme of the overall album, it seems kinda... Stupid. But, I guess it isn't that bad. Makes sense. Anyway, cool stuff.

Interesting title and concept, I'm looking forward to this album (and seeing them play bits of it live in April Big smile)

To be honest I don't really like the description given above either. I think "stupid" is the right word to describe it, but form what I read these are supposed to be some of Steve's best lyrics...

"Stupid"?... Maybe. We can only hope it's not just another whiner's album, like Scarsick.

Actually that's supposed to be "X-Box is a God to me".  Maybe slightly less stupid that way? Wink

Well Gravity even SW is one of my idols I have to say 'please'. Don't program ur brain to like whatever SW does :D I assume you did. You don't have to defend SW's lyrics to others etc.

Anyway I adore SW too. But for example sometracks from Blackfield II are not that good.

I don't know about stupid, but I'm very interested in listening to the album specially the 20 minute epic.

But why April 24? January 7 looks like a better release date. Wink

Can't wait!!! I, for one, find the topic intriguing. I was just discussing with someone the paradigm shift I'm sensing in our societies, and how several elements (the convenience of instant global communications, a constant barrage of throwaway marketing, the rise of "ADD" and ADHD") all seem to be inter-related, and slowly changing the way we relate to each other.

In fact, I'm currently writing a song that's more or less about this topic.

Thanks for beating me to it, Steven! Angry

Wink

Welcome to the blank generation , Steve

The lyrical themes seem perfectly sensible to me,as maybe some comments on this forum might suggest

I don't care if the subject is the Great Wall of China, I can't wait to hear what they come out with next!

Can't wait for it!!! When I saw them play the new material live it was quite impressive, I don't think it will disappoint! I just hope it doesn't leak because it will be very hard to avoid temptation...

Yeah Deadwing leaked but I managed to be a good boy and resisted temptation. What gets me is that it can only be someone associated with the record company who is leaking these albums onto the internet.

Which reminds me, I am presuming that when we buy from "Burning Shed" more of the money gets back to the band.
