My Dying Bride is the best of the four.

Those who get into those bands think they are listeing to goth music.

In truth, they are listeing to listless doom metal.

If you want goth, morbid, maudlin albums check out:

Dead Can Dance
The Birthday Party
The Red House Painters
Nick Cave &the Bad Seeds
The Cure (80s material mainly)
This Mortal Coil (Supergroup of 4AD artists, formed by Ivo watts) It'll End in Tears is melancholy and despondent, Get all three albums though.
Hope Blister
Cocteau Twins
Joy Divisioon
Bauhaus
Souther Death Cult
Echo & the Bunneymen
The Sound (Think of Joy division and Echo& the Bunneymen intersect)
Adrian Borland, the lead singer of The Sound threw himself underneath railroad tracks and killed himself).  A train crushed him.  Adding already to a growing cult status).

The Gathering with Anneke (pre- Manylion is insipid doom metal) Anneke stuff is amazing, especially Souvenirs.
In the Woods... Interesting (prog)
Green Carnation (prog)
Stream of Passion (Arjen Lucassens Goth Side-Project) Bovio has an amzing voice.  Solid album Embrace the Storm  Easy and Accessible.

Stay Away From:

Nightwish
Lacuna Coil
Evanescence (although their debut is not that bad)
