I really adore the first book! The second one, "Dune Messiah", is also good. I don't know the rest of the series, though:

"Children of Dune"
"God Emperor of Dune"
"Heretics of Dune"
"Chapterhouse: Dune"

What can you tell me about them?
"Music is much like f**king, but some composers can't climax and others climax too often, leaving themselves and the listener jaded and spent."

I bought Dune the other week, but have so many other books to get through first, I have no idea when I'll start it.

I have played the two computer games for the PC though, so I know a little of the idea behind the books.

I look forward to reading Dune though.  Nebula and Hugo award winning books are normally excellent.

Good series. I'm just beginning the 3rd book, Children of Dune. The Sci Fi original movie is a fairly good portrayal, but it does have a few instances of poor special effects and cinematogrophy.

The " Dune " universe is fascinating. I've read almost everything including the continuation by Frank's son, Brian and respected sci-fi author, Kevin Anderson. There's all the info you might want at www.dunenovels.com this site includes a timeline of all books and an exhaustive synopsis of the worlds of Dune. Have fun!

oh yeah. I remember being 13 years old and having read all six volumes. the ones till Children Of Dune dazzled me, extraordinary read. the follow ups after Children Of Dune mostly led me to some eloquent read material and some intricate plots.

over the seventh, un-Frank Herbert, continuation I stopped after few chapters.

overall, a masterpiece of a book. but right now it's off my senses and my important likings.

The first 3 books are good (the first two excellent even) after that it all blurres a bit.

haven't read it in 10 years or so, and i can only remember the first 3 books.

Yeah I agree, it gets kinda repetitive after God Emperor of Dune.

The Newest series is pretty good though I recommend reading "The Butlerian Jihad."
