I may be wrong but they were definitely on the tour. I saw them in London a month before this was recorded. Maybe the guys at Globalia are wrong (but I doubt it). See Links.

My information comes straight from the pamphlet included with the CD. I may be wrong about this, but no bass guitarist is listed for track 6, and I am very sure that this is because the version used on this CD was recorded from a concert set in Eppelheim, Germany in March '79, and at that time I believe Peter Wolf was supplying electric bass in the form of keys rather than strings.

I have had a look at the 'United Mutations' webpage, and it shows both Ike Willis and Arthur Barrow, who were definitely on that European tour. I think I have a concert tape of it somewhere. I will have a look for it. By the way, there are lots of mistakes on Zappa CDs with regards to live recordings. The 'Stage' series has loads. Even wrong locations and dates.

Well then if this is true, I would go with Arthur Barrow. Ike Willis is mainly a rhythm guitarist during live performances. No need to have a heart-attack about itSmile
