Yeah, I wasted all that precious summer time on that album only so I could write a review on it that would make people hate me.

I listened to it about 10 times over a period of a month.
Every time after the first was strictly for 'reviewing purposes'.

^ no - I listened to the album a few months ago, then again last month, and yesterday, when I rated the album on my website ... there was plenty of time for the music to "sink in".
BTW: I think that you don't need to listen to an album over and over again to be "qualified" to review it. For me the first impression of something is as valuable as the impression of someone who knows the album in and out ... after all, the more you listen to something, the more you become accustomed to it - and that can cloud your judgement as much as when you're unfamiliar with something. But of course it's important to let the reader know how familiar you are with the album - then they can decide whether the information is useful for them or not. 'hours' doesn't have an 'e' on the end, Mike..
seriously, I don't know whether you can get away with writing a review for an prog album after only 3 listens covering such a short period of time....
but you're most probably right in your conclusions...

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

After initially not likeing Paradox Hotel, I now find it an excellent album. The material really does come across very strong in a concert setting! Let's be honest, I can't think of any other band that made flawless albums except YES. |

For what is shown, there are clearly two main opinions regarding the album, both with several supports, particularly official prog reviewers. Both ones explain their point of views clearly and are acceptable in my view. The different points of view have to be with the definition of progressive rock each has. We have to respect them all.

I think the review should be deleted, along with the reviewer.
