I love this chord sequence:
FM7 BbM7 EbM7 C7

Originally taken from "Great Gig In The Sky", but i like to use it as an intro to the blues, which i play like this:

F F6 F7 F6 x2
Bb Bb6 Bb7 Bb6 x1
F F6 F7 F6 x1
C C6 C7 C6 x1
Bb Bb6 Bb7 Bb6 x1
F F6 F7 F6 x2

Cool

D Minor because of its melancholical undertone Cry ... I often start to play this chord, followed by A Minor, some twanging and a bit solo to get in the mood Wink

I have to agree - D Minor is I think generally accepted as the saddest of all keys

I've been playing some Harmonium songs and they play some really beautiful chords and beautiful arrangements with them.

One chord I really liked was F#7sus4  and  Em7

I have 2 fav's - one is the Augmented 4th (or dim 5th) as you prefer, resloving to the 3rd - i.e. on a piano, F in bass - RH: C,F & B with the B resolving to the A. Not just on F, but anywhere.

Secondly, & I don't really know what you would call this one (Cma9 add6,aug4th) (?huh) but it sounds great IMHO

LH: C,G,E (so you need to be able to stretch to 2 notes over the octave)
RH: A, D F#, A (D major chord)

Hmhm. I love chords you can play around with. basically this'll make my favourite E major, the lowest one. You can play the whole scale with the chord playing there.

Then if I must do minor then it's be Bminor, used to be G minor, but I grew bored of that playing too much Deep Purple years ago.

Oh, and depending, when I compose to my band, then it's usually Bb major because of the trumpet, and it's a nice chord. but all in all, E major, that also because most of Flower Kings stuff is in E major.

I like to do a barre B-chord on the 7th fret of the first string upwards, and then move my finger so the second note goes down half a step.
I don't know what that chord is called, but it may be a Bdim.
Also, i like to play Dm-Am, and A-AmM7
