Heh, I started listening to prog in around 1988 or so, and I STILL am discovering great 70's bands I hadn't heard before (or even heard of)
Harmonium being the most recent example that has popped up in this thread. Also, Comus was a big one for me along with the Refugee album. Prog Archives has had a big hand in expanding my awareness of prog both old and new.
As for 2006, I have only picked up a few things. The best by far to my ears is LuxAde by La Maschera Di Cera (but I'm an Italian prog nut), and Si Parte 1 from Nemo. Other good ones were Paradox Hotel (Flower Kings), and A place In the Queue (Tangent). I have the latest Pain Of Salvation, but haven't had a chance to listen to it yet.
I try to spread out my purchases over old and new stuff. There is so much of both I haven't heard yet that I really want to keep up with both.
