LOL what a way to describe an album and motivate ranking in one line. Thanks Bob!

Actually, the album was on my 'check this out' list, but I guess it's going to be removed, or gotten from the library instead of the stores...

Bob has a way in putting the headline with charisma in an often tempo.

I think my favorite is or remained Live At Pompei DVD: Get A Haircut!

I think the first review, at least of major releases, should be always a collaborator one or at least a recurrent guest... with not-so-big releases, of course we always need the opinionof those few who have listened to a record (I myself have the only review of two albums.... but those AREN'T Pain of Salvation, one of today's leading bands...)

I think that the real problem lies in the fact that albums which haven't been released yet are added to the band pages. My opinion is that albums should be added on the official release date. Currently, we have 7 albums in the archives which haven't been released yet, and in my opinion it doesn't look good at all. It implies that people on the site have found illegal, leaked copies of the albums and heard them before they have been released (regardless of whether or not such leaked copies actually exist, that's the way it looks). The fact that some of them have been added by the site's owner doesn't make the situation look any better.

This reviewer admits to have downloaded the album, and currently it's the most recent review on the home page. He makes some good points and I personaly don't mind that he downloaded, since he claimed he'd buy it later, but that's not good advertisement for the first review on the home page.

Agree 99%.... But at least he tells us HOW HE GOT THE ALBUM in the first place, something the remaining 4 awful guest reviews (not the collaborator one) didn't. There should be a standard for first-time-reviews of a not-yet-released album.

I think there shouldn't be any not-yet-released albums in the archives.... man, we can WAIT. We're not THAT desperate. We aren't "prog-heads" who need their fix with desperation. Please. Better to wait but to have a review of a released album than a few atrocious reviews by some guys that think they are illuminating us with their abilities to find music. (not ALL of them: the last review of POS Scarsick by a guest at least tells us how he got ahold of the album, props for that).

Hey, Snowy! We reported the same review in the very same moment!

It's great to have some support from another member. I'd also like to hear what the admins think of the practice of adding albums before the official release.

OK, this is one Admin's opinion at least... I am very much against it, and for the same reasons as Philéas and The T. have so aptly expressed. Albums should be added and reviewed when they are available in the stores, and not a moment before - even if the info on them (not to mention the music is already widely available on the web. What happened with TMV's "Amputechture", which was already in the Top 100 two months before its release, was IMHO an outright disgrace.

The site policy has been stated a number of times now.

Once the official details of an album have been released, it can be added to the site.

Advance copies for promotion purposes are often made available prior to the offical release date. It is not for us to judge or to try to second guess how reviewers come to be in possession of an album, so reviews are fine once an album has been added. There should however be no suggestion in a review that it has been obtained illegally. Likewise, links to "leak" sites are a strict no-no.

I don't agree with the elimination of the psycospaces reviews. He didn't violate any rulle did he? i guess he didn't offend anyone..he just expresses his opinion. You know? I guess he's right. Though a bit extreme in his evaluations, I make my words his words for most of his reviews lol most of those bands are regressive bands which did not bring anything of new, and are overrated... Let those reviews stay. This is a democracy after all.

Yeah, I strongly disagree with Psychospaces, but his reviews coud be helpful as they represent the negative opinion that's not otherwise represented. Sorry Trotz, I don;t see how the hell Kayo Dot is regressive

(Sorry Guigo, this convo should be moved to Reviews DiscussionEmbarrassed!)

The Miracle, in fact I didn't listen yet to Kayo Dot's new album, and I believe it's not regressive if you say so. I was not defending any review specifically, just have the opinion, like you, that people should be free to express themselves, if they don't ridicularize the others : )

He (or she) has room now for writing them again - no problem!

I haven't anything about the 1-star reviews but s/he should follow PA guidelines for reviews and also if not registered at least to inform a real e-mail adress!

These last posts (mine included) will go to the Reviews Discussion Thread in "Help Us Improve The Site" forum.

Exactly.
And I think his reviews should stay (and I don't agree with him at all). He should be given the option as everyone else to speak his mind, only not to make other seem like idiots/stupids, which is something that he missed somewhat, but overall it's ok.
The thing he has to realise is that his opinion is one among many. What pleases his neurons, is not necessarily what pleases mine and vice versa.
So if I enjoy the music and think it's good, what can you do about it? not much, but state your preference and not ridicule others.

Let his reviews stay.

Ok, folks...

Well, I don't believe that a review starting with "cr*p" and ending with "cr*p" and containing the same expletive several times in the text deserves to stay. His/her other reviews weren't much different.

I really don't care too much with the ratings, people are totally entitled of their opinions but I really care with the reviews' guidelines!

Guardian was the one screaming "crap", not Psychospaces!

He was pretty laconic and very radical, but within the guidelines.

You're sure Ansen... maybe I'm asleepEmbarrassed however his/her reviews say nothing about the songs, the production, the musicianship, etc. As I said he can write them again explaining better the low ratings.

OK, I'm going to bed now and I'll let you with a flood of 1-star reviews. There's a new one in the frontpage (I bet this chap does not like prog). Tongue
