A cold drink in a hot day. I wouldn't dare drink a hot drink in Puerto Rico's weather.

Hot drink for me. I love Green Tea, I can't spend a day without having a cup, even in a hot day.

Actually, if you drink hot drinks on a hot day, you will feel cooler on the inside, same, if you take a cold shower on a hot day you will be refreshed for a few minutes but then you walk out and the heat really gets you. But when you walk out of a hot shower, even a hot day will feel cool. Notice that most native desert tribes drink hot coffee or tea.

I've tried this, but it doesn't seem to work for me.

Both are very very good in the circumstance decribed..A cold beer on a hot summers day...Gluhwein (hot wine with spices) on a cold winter day... what can be better???
I chose warm drink...cold day for our Dutch winter surprise "snert" (hot peasoup served while scating on the ice, soo great...btw you should try scating...all of you!)

I love cold... So when it's cold, I keep on drinking icy drinks... no alcohol for me but a good sugared dose of Coke Cola beats everything.
Multiply this by 600 if it's a hot day.
I don't like hot drinks. I'm not a great coffee or tea drinker.
Does soup qualify?
Does drinking while hyperventilating qualify?

Neither. Drinking a hot drink on a cold day can help warm you up but drinking ice cold drinks on a hot day can have the opposite effect. The freezing cold blood leaving your stomach for your liver tells the body's chemistry set that your core temperature is rather low and gets some reactions going to heat you up. I find that ambient temperature drinks are far better and easier to drink. Funnily enough a nice cup of tea on a hot day can be very refreshing.
