A new Gong archive release added today:

GONG ~ IN THE 70`S
VOICEPRINT 406 (Barcode: 604388325726) ~ UK ~ Canterbury Scene
Recorded: 1973 - 1975 Released: 2006
New treasures from the Gong archives! Previously unreleased live and rehearsal recordings of this great band are presented here in more than decent sound quality, which makes this a true bliss for the numerous fans of the band (myself included). The exact dates of the recordings are sketchy at best, but Daevid Allen's liner notes shed some light on the contents: The majority of the tracks come from the jazzy version of the band with Steve Hillage on guitar, Didier Malherbe on sax and Pierre Moerlen on drums. This almost fusion sounding band (recorded shortly before Hillage's debut solo album Fish Rising was made) really cooks! The rest of the tracks present the band around the time of Camembert Electrique (with the great Pip Pyle on drums) and around the time of Angels Egg. All the music is of course quite brilliant and so uniquely Gong that I can hardly imagine that anybody who loves this band would like to miss this. Essential for all eggheads!

A very nice reissue of a rare classic rock item added today:

BROKEN GLASS ~ BROKEN GLASS
MYSTIC 195 (Barcode: 604388678723) ~ UK ~ Classic Rock
Recorded: 1975 Released: 2006
Only album by this short-lived UK group. Formed by singer / guitarist Stan Webb (founder and leader of the great blues group Chicken Shack), Broken Glass was his only attempt to enter the rock scene. The group included no less then three great guitar players (Webb, Miller Anderson and Robbie Blunt) and stylistically resembled other rock groups, which had a strong blues background like Free and Bad Company. Most of the songs are written (or co-written) by Webb, with his husky voice (occasionally resembling Captain Beefheart) being perfect for this kind of material. Although the group had all the ingredients to become a huge success, things turned out differently and they disbanded shortly after the album was recorded. The album disappeared from the shelves almost immediately and soon became a rare collector's item. It's great to have this little gem back in circulation.
