Linguist-prog (I know you don't get it, just play along):

The Disgruntled Phonemes (art-rock)
[a] is more sonorous than [e] (RIO)
Gricean Implicature (dark, Crimson-influenced art-rock)
Colorless Green Ideas Sleep Furiously (happy, retro symphonic prog)
of Genitive Tense (name is ironic if you think about it; um, maybe jazz-rock?)
The Prescriptivists (dominating prog-metal with lyrics along the lines of "obey your high-school English teacher")
Vowel Harmony (containing PT-esque vocal harmonies)
Glottal Stop (minimalistic post-rock)
Sintassi (Italian for "syntax"; Italian prog, of course)

edit: why is it italicizing everything?

Northern Lights, I got the name, from Annie Haslam (I emailed her and asked what she thought, Renaissance being my biggest influence, and Carpet of the Sun, the first thing I learned).
It's got to be slow
Taking love the only way
It's got to just flow
Making love and taking time to let it grow

Paradigms Lost.   First album would be called "Surfing Black Holes".

The band I and a friend never can find a drummer for is to be called either Smögen (after the Swedish town with the same name) or Det Svenska Språket (The Swedish Language - don't ask, it sounded funny as a band name, I'm not a patriot (in fact the opposite, but whatever)).

Is the name of the oldest/earliest bird found.

Later, in 1986, they found this:

And called it "Protoavis". It wasn't prog - related, off course, but still is considered to be proto something.

A word of wisdom from me to you: "Google".
