Just found this news on Silhobbit.com......
Saturday 27th January 2007 see's one of the most eagerly awaited events in known prog-history. Mick Pointer (Arena and ex-Marillion) has gathered a bunch of the best prog musicians around and will head off to the ever popular, yet up'n'coming venue, Riff's Bar in Hook, just outside Swindon, for an astounding one-off gig. The band, with Mick on drums, Nick Barrett (Pendragon) on guitar, Ian Salmon (Arena) on bass, Mike Varty (Credo & Landmarq) on keys and John Dexter Jones (Jump) on vocals, will be performing the WHOLE of Marillion's epic debut album Script For A Jesters Tear in its entirety! And no matter how many calls there are for Grendel, that beast shall not rear it's lovely head. Tickets will be available from the Riffs Bar website for £12 in the next few days and are sure to sell quicker than hot cakes at a hot cakes stall. A top notch support act will be announced in the next few days |

Just received this in a Pendragon mail-out -
Mick Pointer [Arena/ex Marillion] has teamed up with Nick Barrett [Guitar], Mike Varty [keyboards], Ian Salmon [bass], John Dexter Jones[ vocals] to play the entire Script For A Jester’s Tear album at Riff’s bar in Swindon on Sat Jan 27th. Mick was the original drummer for the Script album, so it will be extremely exciting to see him once again perform this masterpiece. Tickets are available from www.riffsbar.biz/gigguide.htm |

Incredible........simply incredible.......I don't honestly know how to describe this gig!
140 people sells out Riff's......and then it's hot, tight and noisy.......add 5 top notch musicians to the stage playing such an incredible album, (with the 140 folk singing along EVERY blinkin word) add in a lot of jumping up'n'down and a fair amount of beer, folk who had travelled from Germany, Holland, Norway, USA, Ireland and all over the UK, all with a passion for this music....... WOW! It was something VERY, VERY special!!! The music itself was performed superbly, the vocal of John Dexter Jones was amazing, and Mick Pointer played a blinder, Barretts guitar work was fantastic!!!....... absoloutely incredible!!!! For those of you who missed this VERY SPECIAL performance...... well, if they decide to do some more of these gigs......GET YERSELF THERE!!! to the nearest venue.........worth EVERY moment of the 24 yrs since it was recorded!!! Fabulous!!! Edited by prog-chick - January 28 2007 at 11:55 |
