Yu, are you familiar with this psych monster?
THE BRAEN'S MACHINEA mysterious studio group, whose albums for the Liuto label, founded by
composer Piero Umiliani, are incredibly sought-after and reach high prices.

No, but I wish to be! What a cover! Looks like it has just eaten Motorhead and Monster Magnet Shreddies and washed them down with a pint of vodka |

Anyone familiar with this one, was looking around for the French styled
Zeuhl band. This one seems to have folk elements. I have not found much information on the band but so far they look promising.

That's weird, I was sure this is symphonic in style...
It is on my wish list in Syn-Phonic. There is another band called Elohim (which means God in Hebrew) that released an album called Mana Perdu which is said by Greg Walker to be similar in style to Ange. |

It could well be the Symphonic Style band. That description came from somebody selling the item on ebay. They tend to be very loose with their genre tagging in such sites. It did get my hopes up when I saw Zeuhl and psych in the same sentence.
I was actually listening to Ange's 2nd album this morning I think it is quite good. Another continuum of my liking for the French side of Symphonic. Also good news for the Zeuhl side of addition, I'm currently compiling information together for Christian Vander's off shoot Offering. I said I was going to add them a while ago, but I am finally getting around to it. Better late than never. |

Well then, if we are liking Ange, might I suggest a new band called Maldoror which released in 2004 (is I am correct) a brilliant album called L'Arbre Cimetiere which takes its influences from Rimbaud and Isidore Ducasse (aka Lautréamont who wrote Les Chants de Maldoror).

Yu, I remember at one point in this thread, many, many pages back you wrote you a list of Zeuhl bands we had discussed. I was wondering whether you had that close by somewhere?

Assaf, I cannot remember if I ever thanked you for getting me into this band, so I wish the thanks now. Some wise words have been spoken, their album is quite astounding |

avers, I love the dark and forboding atmosphere that the French are masters of. If anyone needs convincing just stick on that with Arachnoid, Shylock's Ille de Fievre, and Gainsbourg's Melody Nelson! Malodor sound like my cuppa. Thanks for the tip! |

Thanks for that Yu! Hopefully with working through some of the bands on the list we can get a very extensive Zeuhl listing for the site. Also further my aventures into the genre

^^^^ Assaf, If you want I can add all those bands to the progtology site (when I get time). This is the kind of thing I was hoping when I asked to the list. I'm happy to see another person quite enthusiastic about this.
Just one thing I noticed Rahmann is actually on the Archives but under Jazz-rock fusion (was looking for them yesterday). To me it is instrumental Zeuhl. What are other peoples thoughts on this? |
