Hello to all PA members,

I realised that not all members are aware of the less talked about and more obscure bands being added to PA.
Now, even though you can all see this here:
http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_PROGARCHIVES.asp
I was thinking that I would establish a thread which I will regularly update with each new band addition to PA.
If you think this is not necessary, please tell me so, and I'll get this thread closed.

My plan is to post here the name of the newly added band and the link to its PA page and if I have some remarks about it or a recommendation I shall add it as well.
You are all WELCOME to post your thoughts on those bands mentioned, but please, if you personally think this band is bad or not fit for PA, do it in a nice, polite and thoughful manner and not by shamelessly attacking that band with insults. I think all criticism is welcome, but there is a proper way to do so, and bashing will lead to nowhere, but getting this thread closed (which is not my intention).

Any collab adding a band is welcome to post it here as well, to help rise awareness to them.

Another thing, I will only post new addition to Prog genre and NOT to Prog-Related and Proto Prog.

So on to our business. These past few days have been good days for the RIO/Avant genre. Adam (Black Velvet) who is a member of the Zeuhl/Avant/RIO Team (hereon ZART) has added several bands:

Yowie - http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=2713

Ahleuchatistas - http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=2712

Muffin Men, The (playing Zappa covers) - http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=2709

The Magic Band (yes those from Captain Beefheart) - http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=2707

I added the Swiss band Debile Menthol - http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=2714

In the Prog-Metal category the recent additions are:
Becoming the Archetype - Jody The Progtologist added them
http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=2711

Linear Sphere were added by Jody as well - http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=2697

Extrovert was added by Ivan/Trickster F - http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=2701

In the Symphonic prog I am sure you heard of the addition of Deluge Grander (I opened a thread for them).

LA BAMBIBANDA E MELODIE has been added to Italian Sympnonic prog - http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=2708

Erik Neuteboom has added Negua to Neo-prog - http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=2710

In Folk-prog Sean Trane (Hugues) has added Breche - http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=2704
and L'Engoulevement - http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=2700

In Electronic prog, Peter Frohmmader was added by Philippe Blache -
http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=2703

In the Post Rock field, God Is An Astronaut was added by Golden Spiral - http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=2702

In Psych, Egyptian Kings were added by Eetu Pellonpää
http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=2699

In Art-Rock, Kin Ping Meh were added by Zac M - http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_BAND.asp?band_id=2698

That is all for now, sorry if I missed anything.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Assaf

PS - To the admins, I would appreciate if you consider making this a sticky thread, since I believe this thread will be of service to all PA members and will help the collabs to introduce the bands they add.

An informative thread is excellent, but let's also remind that, by pressing the prog Archives links on the front page, on the right tab (more in the middle) the latest additions are monitorized.

erik, ROmanian, if from ROmania. Wink

That is what I said in my original post is you read it. But if you read it you also see why I made this thread. Because people don't go there and then miss the newly added bands.
Anyway, I don't mind doing this and hope that mentioning the newly added bands here, will further help promote them and their music. If even one person gets to know one of those bands, it is worth it.

Thanks Erik for the info.

Guigo, thanks for making it sticky.

Toni, thanks for the support.

Nice thread we have going here, Assaf. Hopefully some people will sit up and take notice Smile

I think I will be having a bit of a look around for this Krautrock album, I am unaware of their sounds.

Expect some new Symphonic Prog additions on Tuesday.  I will mention them once they've been added (and once I've added the albums).

Erik: The Gift will be added.  Would you say neo-prog more than symphonic prog then?  I've written a bio, but I wrote it as if they'll be added to the Symphonic Prog category.  They can always be moved anyhow, so if anyone else agrees they should be in neo-prog, instead of symphonic prog, it's easily arranged.  The bio can be changed easily enough too.

I'll work on that Swiss band in the next few days.

Good thread Assaf!  I had a similar idea, but you have a better status than I do and you know who's been added.

Is it worth mentioning other recent additions?  Astrid Proll for instance? Wink

Not a problem.  I found their MySpace page and that helped with the biography.  If you come across any problems with the bio, when the band is added, do let me know and I'll be sure to get it corrected (I cannot do it myself, however).

I'm always happy to be of help.

Oh that reminds me, do you know of any band photos?

No, I have e-mailed Andy Glegg from Cyclops for information but still didn't get any answer, perhaps you can try it again and refer to my attempt?
GekcO, what about Also Eden? Perhaps a band to explore for the neo-prog team? I have reviewed this band on a Dutch progrock site, great sound, very dynamic and good work on guitar and keyboards.
