If it the Progressive Rock product in Italy pleases yourselves (whatever it is the genre) be able to contribute this thread. It will not be deepend only the knowledge of the Italy Symphonic Prog, but All the Prog produced in Italy.
P.s.: I do not know well the contemporary Italian Prog Rock because the shops of my zone do not trat it (except Prog Metal). Nevartheless for how much it pertains the 70's I am able to know enough to be able to advise something.
Why, however, to treat the Italian Prog Rock in All genre? Because it is Italian opinion of a lot of Proghead (above all of old Italian Progheads) that does not exist the Italian Symphonic Prog or the Italian Art Rock or, still, the Italian Folk Prog, etc... But only the Italian Prog (Rock)!!!

Nunzio "Cucciolo" Favia (ex Osage tribe and Dik Dik, endorsed U.F.I.P. cymbals): www.cucciologiadikdik.it (Best site. Found the musical story of Cucciolo and can be used also like site of Osage Tribe [looked the first contract with BLA BLA Record] and second site of Dik Dik)
Dik Dik: www.dikdik.it
Franco Battiato: www.battiato.it
PFM: www.pfmpfm.it
New Trolls: www.newtrolls.it
Formula 3: www.formula3.it (Thin site with only the Home Page... Sic...)

It would be interesting to do a list of all the classic italian bands from the seventies that are not in the italian symphonic prog section.
I think that many of these bands are often forgotten or, unjustly underrated by the thousands of users of this site.

Eh, eh... Who use the diplomacy and who no!!!
However I found "CONTAMINAZIONE di alcune idee di certi preludi e fughe de 'Il Clavicembalo ben temprato' di J. S. Bach- IL ROVESCIO DELLA MEDAGLIA" (Rovescio della Medaglia) suprior to "Concerto Grosso Per I New Trolls" (New Trolls), dear Andrea Cortese.

My love to Italian Prog began this spring.I've heard LOCANA DELLE FATE's Forse le Lucciole... and was blown away completely. My favourite without a shade of doubt.
BTW, in last few days I started to re-listen to some Italian albums...BANCO has almost flawless ones - debut, Io Sono Nato Libero and Canto di Primavera are my faves from them.LE ORME have my second fave Italian Prog album ever - L'INFINITO. Except everyone's faves like Felona E Sorona or Uomo di Pezza they also have excellent PICCOLA RAPSODIA DELL'APE - tiny acousitc piece with almost BEATLES-like melodic feeling...HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! PFM are great with their first two masterpieces, but the further I go,the lesser I like. It would be a crime not to mention such great albums as I Giganti's TERRA IN BOCCA, Celeste's PRINCIPE DI GIORNO, MEtamorfosi's INFERNO, RDM's Contaminazione, Maxophone's and Murple's efforts,QVL's both albums, Semiramis' DEDICATO A FRAZZ, New Trolls' Concertos ... and Modern Heroes - LA MASCHERA DI CERA and NODO GORDIANO along with NUOVA ERA and CASTELLO DI ATLANTE. There's also a bunch of rare bands like Il Giro Strano, Eneide,Apoteosi,I Dalton,I Nomadi,Alphataurus,Biglietto per Inferno, Osanna, Buon Vecchio Charlie, Cervello etc - not to be missed by collectors!!! |
