I FINALLY received Pataphonie - Le Matin Blanc. So now, I can use it to help the ZART to vote in it and hopefully add it to PA. However, this treat will have to wait until later for me to listen to it. I really need to finish studying first. Then I will treat myself with this Big smile

As there is still no answer with Abus Dangereux, I will start the hunt for Ma Banlieue Flasque now. I only heard it 3 times but already have developed a great liking towards it.

Bring it on, more French stuff.

Well, the Paraphonie should definitely be a nice treat, too bad it has to wait till after the study. It is too bad you are not one for the ol' vinyl as I know Ma Banlieue Flasque it is on ebay at the moment.

I will see what I can dig up in the French scene.

Not quite sure where to put this one, but here sounds good.

Ok Assaf, this one is not quite French but from Montreal Quebec. These are two every good albums, you need to listen to. If you are interested just PM me. Actually listening to Volume 333 right now.

L'INFONIE

< name="TG027CD" ="/bin/basket.pl" method="post"> < name="TG 027CD L'INFONIE L'Infonie (Volume 3) CD $14.00" ="">
Artist: L'INFONIE
Title: L'Infonie (Volume 3)
Label: MUCHO GUSTO (CANADA)
Format: CD
Price: $14.00
Catalog #: TG 027CD
"Loose collective regrouped up to 33 artists from various backgrounds ranging from free jazz, classical, contemporary, rock, visual arts and poetry in one avant-garde adventure still unsurpassed in Quebec. Formed in Montreal in 1967, L'Infonie (lead by composer Walter Boudreau and poet, singer, trumpeter Raoul Duguay) existed officially until 1974. 7 years of pure mayem that gave birth to 'Volume 3' and 3 more releases ('Volume 33', 'Volume 333' and 'Volume 3333'). Released on CD for the 1st time (2 bonus live cuts included)."

< name="TG029CD" ="/bin/basket.pl" method="post"> < name="TG 029CD L'INFONIE Volume 333 2CD $20.00" ="">
Artist: L'INFONIE
Title: Volume 333
Label: MUCHO GUSTO (CANADA)
Format: 2CD
Price: $20.00
Catalog #: TG 029CD
"Volume 333 is the third album by the Montreal collective L'Infonie, and it is considered by many to be their masterpiece. Released in 1972, this surprising, hard to categorize album is a mix of experimental groove, psychedelic jazz-rock and.... classical music, that will appeal to Zappa fans, but also to chamber music audiophiles. An extraordinary listening adventure and a monument of undeground Kébécois rock! Formed in Montreal in 1967, L'Infonie existed officially until 1974. Seven years of pure mayem that gave birth to four vinyls (Volume 3, Volume 33, Volume 333and Volume 3333) as well as various multidisciplinary shows built as way-out happenings with costumes etc...Stunningly remastered two-disc re-release of their classic third album from 1972, Montreal's L'Infonie proves that they were at the forefront of musique concrete and easily above all others that have tried to harness this form of controlled chaos. With their daring and unconventional use of electronics, basses, horns and guitars, a bizarre animated religious storybook fantasy world of madness is created, one where there is no particular story, just an open-ended and humorous comedic soundscape... Volume 333 is experimental decadence at its finest."

but then again..although busy participating in 2 sub-genre threads, I have a bit of a problem with categories myself. I think they too often imply limits, bounds within which we try to pigeon-hole artists. art, great art anyway, shall, we hope, try to create and exist beyond such aforesaid limits implied by definition. yes yes, necessity [of understanding] I know, I know..

Thanks for that, it sounds like my sort of thing. Now heading off to do some research.

I have been looking around and I am wondering if any one is going to be able to shed some light on this band/album.

WHITE MARIE ALDER & RED NOISE - New the widow of the owl/ophelia

From what I can tell this is a very rare Zeuhl-ish album from France 1970. Just wondering if anyone has any information on the band.

Don't matter I have the exact same problem as I think a lot of people here do. You just have to see from to stuff I have been posting I take the genres very widely, and not overly focused.

I know I have ask this before, but, cleo you would not happen to know anything more about the band Evhoe (I think that is how you spell it). Ever since I listened to that track on the Zeuhl compilation I have been in vain searching for information.

One quick question. I keep hearing this new-wave term. What does this entail?

Post Punk is an exceedingly all-inclusive term in many ways. It, obviously, stems from the origin of punk, but veered away from the simplicity of musical structure/chord progression into more complex and/or experimental, often art-sy, territory. This while, again of course, [hence the moniker], retaining some of punk's attitude shall we say; its stance of challenging status-quo pre-conceptions. Often sound wise retaining some of the rawness, passion, & intensity [like frigging amazing & hot razor guitar] of the former. One of my all-time great loves is early [and that is IMPORTANT! they rather sold-out ;(] Gang of Four.

Ah! Yes! I flipped when I heard them too! I asked around a lot, but didn't learn much. It seems they never recorded/released anything unfortunately. They were from Toulouse, France (late '70s/'80s). They were originally a quartet (drums, bass, keyboards, guitar), and finally a trio [no guitar]. I was told they were a band that had led on for Magma, and only did one thing: a long version of a piece called "K'a" which was constantly in a state of flux and evolution. They split up when their drummer left [Roger Lahana] to become a scientist.

ach! I just got tsk-tsk-ed for terming a '71 lp RIO. I need to qualify here/what the term means to me: I use the term 'RIO' not literally [in terms of the Cutler proj and it's offshoots, that is, literally w/ dates], but, as I said, to name any-thing but the kit. sink music really.. as i said to someone recently, I really like the term avant-prog the best for this. Yes, definately better than the term 'RIO,' but that's something it seems more folks know/understand a bit as a genre stretching genre, so...

Thank you so much for that information, though it is a bit saddening to hear they did released anything. From what you said before, that track was something like a 30min epic. For some reason on the mp3 version it seems to cut out at around 5 min. Is this just me? or am I imagining things.

Sebkha Chott, is really the only one I am overly familiar with they produce a cracker of a debut album this year. I must recommend them for anyone who is interesting in Mr Bungle or Secret Chiefs 3

I am such an idiot... Sebkha got here by mistake from another list I am making...
Disregard it.

How about those others? They are mainly symphonic or closely related to it and not on PA and I saw warm recommendations of them by Meidad Zacharia (MIO Records) on an Israeli Forum (Nana.co.il).

Where do you find these obscurities C ? !I have an image in my head of you relaxing in your penthouse apartment dressed in little more than leather hot-pants and smudged mascara with a fine claret in one hand and a brown leather whip in the other administering orders to a team of dwarfs to find you the vinyl that will satisfy your every whim. Marry me ?

lol! I'm frigging old, A. and, B, I have lots of well-informed friends [many still slaving away in record stores since '80 or so]. Hmm, I guess you could call them my helpers actually...tee hee hee ;) [and, she must admit, she does rather like to wield her toys rather rather...
