Dream Theater is the only metal band listed, thus this poll is hopelessly skewed.
They'll be slaughtered like squealing swine by all of us more "traditional-minded" prog fans!
Wheeeeee!
Seriously, this poll seems pretty pointless.
Sorry.

I voted KC, because of the ones I know enough of to make a judgement they are the one I like least...I donk really know any GG, and only a couple of VDGG and Camel, but like what I know.....

I had the same idea for a poll a few days ago, but I thought it was too negative. Nah, it doesn't matter if it's negative. Anyway, I wouldn't have given the option for DT, because we already know that it's one of the most... controversial bands on this site. My vote goes for Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd is yuk for me, although sometimes enjoyable.

Dream Theater definitely. I listen to them occasionally (well, rarely really). Guess I'm still living in the 70's!

Well of those listed, it's probably Dream Theater. The only album I think is all that great and consistent is 'Scenes From A Memory'. The songwriting obviously came first with that one- ironic that it should be a concept album, then. The others I have of theirs have too many long winded solos for my taste, and too many sub par AOR ballads ('Octavarium' stand up).

They are all great even if not equally great.
I don't dislike any of these.

I never quite got VDGG so I voted for that but may need to give them more spins
Camel also I find a bit second rate. They have moments of brilliance but to me half each album sounds like jamming.
The other 8 and the strangely excluded ELP are great

Excluding DT, as long as they can't be called "Great" band, my least favourite from this list is Yes.

Dream Theater. It's been a long time since i last listened to them, I don't even know why.
I'm not too keen on Gentle Giant (I've only listened to 3 albums of theirs) but then again maybe i should listen more.

Oh, and, um, in the first section (best prog band ever), there is now Pink Floyd.
Finally a fact I can agree with...

King Crimson. I always prefered them out of the 70's prog giants.

I was undecided between Gentle Giant and Pink Floyd, almost voted for the latter, but then I realized DT...
Odd24, I definitely agree with you!

Listen to Turkish psych/prog; you won't regret: Baris Manco,Erkin Koray,Cem Karaca,Mogollar,3 Hürel,Selda,Edip Akbayram,Fikret Kizilok,Ersen (and Dadaslar) (but stick with the '70's, and 'early 80's!)
